Pasta dinner benefit set at Salem Eagles July 8
SALEM — The public is invited to a pasta dinner benefit for Sue Potts from 4 to 7 p.m. July 8 at the Salem Eagles Club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 4 to 12. All proceeds will be given to Potts who has been diagnosed with stage four lung cancer. There also will be a Chinese auction, 50/50 and bake sale. Anyone wishing to donate a basket for the Chinese auction is asked to contact Janet Jones at 330-277-1608.
Bistro Restaurant at Mahoning Career Center open
CANFIELD — The Bistro Restaurant at the Adult Career Center at the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center will be open for dinner from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday now through July 20. However, the restaurant is closed July 3 and 4 in honor of Independence Day.
The Bistro Restaurant is operated by adult culinary students along with instructors Chef Sean Kushma and Chef Quinn Meechan. The restaurant, located at the school on North Palmyra Road, accepts only cash and checks. For menu options check out Mahoning County Career and Technical Center’s Facebook page. Reservations are recommended and may be made by calling 330-729-4100.
Lecture on bells, bell tower at St. Philip Neri offered
DUNGANNON — Dr. Kelly S. Darney will present a 45-minute historical lecture with rare photographs and new information about the bells and the bell tower at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church at 6 p.m. July 8 at the church, 11305 Gavers Road, Hanoverton. The church is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year and Darney has written a book set for publication in July. Refreshments will be served. The event is free and open to the public.
Reservations taken for Salem 1972 reunion
SALEM — Reservations are being accepted for the Salem High School Class of 1972’s 45th class reunion on July 29. Classmates who have not received an invitation or have a question are asked to contact Barb Capel Shaffer at 330-332-9670.
