SALEM — The First Baptist Church, 1290 E. State St., will host a garage sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 7 to 9. The proceeds will go toward the repair of the church’s bell tower. NEW WATERFORD — For the third consecutive year, Abundant Life Fellowship, 46649 state Route 46, will host the Cruise Against Hunger car show, a benefit to raise money for the 4C’s Food Pantry, from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the upper parking lot. Registration will begin at 1 p.m. All makes and models of cars are welcome to participate. Trophies will be awarded for the best Chevy, Ford and Dodge, and a Pastor’s Choice trophy will also be awarded. Dash plaques will be passed out to the first 50 entries. A Chinese auction, 50-50 raffle and grill food all will be available for purchase. All proceeds go to the local pantry, which serves families in the Crestview school district every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The show is co-sponsored by the Salem Arby’s Cruisin’ Crew. The event benefits the 4C’s (Crestview Community Concerns) Food Pantry.

NORTH LIMA — The Tom Walker Family will be in concert at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at Woodworth Park, 255 Warren Ave. Also appearing will be the Good News Blenders. This outdoor concert is sponsored by four North Lima churches: Calvary United Methodist, North Lima Mennonite, The Gate and Paradise Church. Bring a lawn chair. NORTH LIMA — The North Lima Calvary United Methodist Church is inviting the Beaver Township community to a Youth Rally from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Woodworth Park. The event features free music, games and prizes.

SALEM — Salem First United Methodist Church will sponsor The Banquet from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building. The menu will include sweet sausage sandwiches with green peppers and onions, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, tossed salad, fresh fruit and vegetables and a fruit cobbler with ice cream. The meal is free and open to the public.

NORTH BENTON — The public is invited to an all-you-can-eat community breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. today at the North Benton Presbyterian Church. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for ages 6 to 12. Carryouts are available.

NORTH LIMA — A youth rally will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Woodworth Park with games, prizes, music and ministry provided by the Ohio Valley Teen Challenge. The young person bringing the most friends will win a $50 gift card. Woodworth Park is located at 255 Warren Ave., just off Western Reserve Road. For more information call 330-318-0408.

COLUMBIANA — Oasis Food Ministry will hold a food distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 24 at the First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St. Anyone age 60 or older may choose to come instead from 10 to 11 a.m. that day.

HANOVERTON — Area residents are invited to the free, annual Hanoverton community dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Hanover Township Fire Hall on Second Street. Ham, potatoes, green beans, corn on the cob, doughnuts and beverages will be served. Entertainment will be provided.

NORTH BENTON — Emmanuel Lutheran Church in North Georgetown is hosting its Annual Community Outdoor Movie Night on Friday, August 18. The event is open to anyone in the community and beyond. The free event will begin at 7 p.m. with hot dogs/sloppy joes, beverage, and snacks in the Fellowship Hall followed by the outdoor movie at dusk. It will be shown indoors if the weather does not permit outdoor viewing. The giant outdoor screen is constructed with four king size sheets raised by a motorized lift provided by several members at Emmanuel. This year’s movie, “Dolphin Tale,” is based on the amazing true story of the dolphin, “Winter.” It is family oriented for all ages. The cast includes Harry Connick, Jr., Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, Morgan Freeman. Of note, Winter the dolphin plays herself in the movie. Although metal chairs will be available, viewers are welcome to bring lawn chairs/ blankets for more comfort. Bug spray and a jacket are also recommended. There will be free popcorn and bottled water during the movie. Emmanuel Lutheran is the brick church located on Georgetown Road east of the village center, after the four- way stop, before the road curves around cemetery hill. Everyone is welcome to attend this free community outreach event.
