Acts 2 Ministries to hold free clothing giveaway today
SEBRING -- Acts 2 Ministries of the Sebring/West Branch area will hold its monthly free clothing giveaway from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Acts 2 Clothes Closet located behind Pine Lake Christian Church, 636 Pine Lake Road.
This is the final month the closet will have warm weather clothing on display before changing over the inventory to cooler weather attire. Back-to-school clothing is still available for students.
There are no restrictions based on income or employment to receive clothing. Donations of good, gently used clothing items are welcome for any season by contacting 330-938-2561, ACTS2WBSebring@gmail.com or 330-938-2262.
Price Road at Mill Creek Park to be used for runs today
YOUNGSTOWN -- Price Road near the Old Log Cabin in Mill Creek MetroParks will experience brief, periodic closings from approximately 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today during the Youngstown Ultra Trail Classic 50k and 25 k. 224 between Ellsworth, Bailey roads to be closed next week
ELLSWORTH TOWNSHIP -- The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced that beginning Sept. 18, U.S. Route 224 between Ellsworth Road and Bailey Road will be closed through Sept. 22 for a culvert replacement. The detour will be state Route 534 to Route 14 to state Route 165 to state Route 45.
On Sept. 22 beginning at 7 p.m. and continuing through 5 a.m. Sept. 23, the U.S. Route 224 eastbound and westbound ramps to Route 11 will be closed for resurfacing. Both ramps will not be closed at the same time. All detours will be posted.
State Route 11 between the I-80/I-680 split and U.S. Route 224 has various daily lane restrictions for resurfacing and pavement repairs. This work is part of a $3.8 million project to resurface Route 11 between U.S. Route 224 and the I-80/I-680 split. The project also includes bridge repairs. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late August 2018.
KSU Salem to host marrow donor registry drive
SALEM -- Kent State University at Salem is hosting a marrow donor registry drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 21 in the student lounge of the campus building on state Route 45. The drive is in honor of Janeen Kotsch, a senior lecturer in the nursing department, who is battling a rare blood disease that requires her to receive a bone marrow transplant.
Kotsch has a matching donor, yet her situation prompted the faculty and students from the nursing degree program to hold a drive to find others who may be willing to donate bone marrow and/or stem cells to other patients.
The process is painless and noninvasive, requiring only a cheek swab. To participate, volunteers must be between the ages of 18 and 44, be willing to donate to anyone and be in good health. Those of a diverse ancestry are especially needed because they are most likely to match someone who shares their heritage. Each individual's information will become part of the Be The Match database so that he or she can be contacted if a match results. According to Be The Match, a marrow transplant is often the only hope for thousands of patients with blood cancers or other diseases.

Salem Bible Methodist Church to hold 2017 revival
SALEM -- Fall Revival 2017 will be held Sept. 26 through Oct. 1 at Salem Bible Methodist Church, 1647 N. Ellsworth Ave. Services begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays; and 10:30 and 6 p.m. on Sundays featuring the Rev. Leonard Sankey.

Salem Masons to host spaghetti dinner Sept. 30
SALEM -- The public is welcome to a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 30 at the Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. The meal includes salad, bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is $6 per person. The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator.

The annual pet blessing begins at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 1 on church grounds.
Octoberfest at St. Jude's is scheduled from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 14. The popular event features a German buffet, desserts and unique seasonal beers. Music will be provided by the Saxon Club Band. Child care is available.

CALCUTTA --Tickets are now available for the 37th annual East Liverpool Historical Society's dinner to be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 2 at the East Liverpool Country Club. "Once Upon 'Em: Balmy Night: The History of Funeral Homes and Embalmers" will be presented. Tickets are $25 each and available at J. Sabatini Shoe Store. The deadline to purchase tickets is Oct. 24.
