Paw Patrol to visit Salem Fun Factory
SALEM -- Chase and Marshall from the Paw Patrol will visit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Salem Fun Factory during a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Columbiana County. The Fun Factory will donate $1 for each paid admission. The humane society will have kittens available for adoption. Head Start will offer crafts and sign-ups for the preschool. Admission is $5.50 for skate rental and $3 for each additional activity.
Seats open for ghost tour on trolley
SALEM -- Seats are still available for today's ghost tour on the Quakertown Trolley at 8 p.m. The tour takes passengers out of the downtown area to famous graves and other "haunted" areas around Salem. Call 330-205-3923 and leave a message if interested. Walk-ups are also welcome if space is available. The trolley loads at 239 S. Lundy Ave.
Drone show set Sunday at Boardman Park
BOARDMAN -- The first drone show in the region will be featured at the 41st Oktoberfestival from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Maag Theatre Area in Boardman Park.
The Mahoning County Sheriff's Drone Division will demonstrate operation information and public safety. Globex Corporation will demonstrate commercial drone operation information, application and drone school. YM Camera will demonstrate drones and camera operation and photography and other drone and photography companies will demonstrate and provide information. Dance performances will be provided by local dance studios and martial arts demonstrations by Master Park Martial Arts.
Ride for Rescue planned in Greenford
GREENFORD -- The "Butterflies of Hope" Ride for Rescue begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at Greenford Christian Church, 11767 Lisbon Road, Greenford. The 70-mile ride continues to West Branch State Park then Austintown to dine before returning to the church to draw winners for the 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction.
Cost is $5 for each bike or car. All proceeds will go to the campaign to Move Our Mission (MoveOurMission.Org).

Banquet in Salem offers fried chicken
SALEM - The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. The meal will be sponsored by Zion Hill Church of Brethren of Columbiana and includes fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, cole slaw, fresh fruits and vegetables and ice cream sundaes.

Road work planned in Sebring
SEBRING -- Beginning Monday, 12th Street between the Columbiana County line to West Pine Lake Road will have various daily lane restrictions for resurfacing. This work is the beginning of $400,000 project to resurface 12th Street between the Columbiana County line and West Pine Lake Road. The entire project is scheduled to completed by late October 2017.
Canned food fundraiser set at Fun Factory
SALEM -- A canned food drive fundraiser for the Salvation Army will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem Fun Factory. Attendees will receive $1 of admission and skate rental for every non-expired can donated. All proceeds will benefit Salvation Army. Admission is $2, skate rental is $3 and each additional activity is $3.
'Cook's Night Off' offered in Winona
WINONA -- The Winona United Methodist Church at 32114 Winona Road will host a "Cook's Night Off" drive-thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday or until sold out. The menu offers chicken stuffed shells, cheesy potatoes, green beans and pumpkin dump cake. Cost is $8. Call ahead and pre-order at 330-222-1211 before noon that day. Drive-thru chicken dinner in North Lima
NORTH LIMA -- A drive-thru chicken dinner will be available from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 12 or until sold out at the Calvary United Methodist Church, 12062 South Ave. The meal includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and a brownie. A percentage of each month's profits is used for local mission projects.
Remove decorations at Glenview Cemetery

Ladies night out at Salem Eagles
SALEM -- The Salem Eagles Ladies Auxiliary is sponsoring a ladies night out fundraiser at 8 p.m. Oct. 19 at the club, 1884 N. Ellsworth Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. Entertainment, for ages 21 and up, will be provided by the 69 Shades Darker Male Revue.

Pastor Sevacko takes up duties in Rogers
ROGERS -- Following the retirement of the Rev. Paul Wright, Pastor Ken Sevacko will assume the pulpit on Oct. 1 as the new senior pastor at Rogers Assembly of God, 8251 Sprucevale Road. Rev. Wright has served for the last 24 years.
Pastor Sevacko was the life pastor at Real Life Assembly of God in Salem for the past 10 years. "My family and I are excited to be in Rogers," said Sevacko. "I can't wait to see what God has in store for this church and the community. Our Sunday morning service begins at 10:30 a.m. We have children's church and nursery available. Everyone is welcome. I hope to meet you there," he said.
Spirit week set at Joshua Dixon
COLUMBIANA -- The smallest Columbiana Clippers will show off why they're proud to be a Clipper during Spirit Week at Joshua Dixon. There's a theme for each school day for the week of Oct. 2-6. Monday is hat day, Tuesday is superhero day, Wednesday is crazy hair day, Thursday is red and white day and kids get to wear blue jeans too. Friday is set aside as "Extreme Clipper Day."
"Participating along with the middle school and high school during spirit week, makes the elementary students feel like they are a part of something bigger, especially if they have older siblings participating," said Kim Sharshan, Joshua Dixon Elementary principal. "It helps everyone in the community get fired up for the Friday night game!"
School Spirit week is also Joshua Dixon's way of celebrating homecoming week when the Clippers take on Wellsville at 7 p.m. Oct. 6 during the football game at Firestone Park. Student presale game tickets will be on sale for $4 at Dixon's library on Friday morning. Student tickets at the gate are $6.
SRMC plans Santa Shuffle at Town Center
COLUMBIANA -- Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and the SRMC Foundation invite area residents to register for the first annual Santa Shuffle and Family Fun Walk to be held from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 18.
The Santa Shuffle is a one-mile holiday walk around Town Center at Firestone Farms and is open to people of all ages. Early registration continues through Oct. 10 at a cost of $10 per participant. After Oct. 11, the registration fee is $15. Pre-registered walkers will receive a special T-shirt at the event. Walkers are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite seasonal character.
Area residents are invited to "shuffle" through the shops and businesses of Firestone Farms Town Center during its Winterfest event while enjoying family friendly activities and holiday gift buying opportunities. While there, sample cookie treats and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. During the event, The Look Nook Gift Shop will have holiday items for purchase, and the SRMC Auxiliary will have their memorial ornaments for sale. Additionally, SRMC at Firestone Farms medical facility will be open for tours. Families will also be able to participate in holiday face painting, photographs with Santa, reindeer hula hoop and holiday corn hole.
