Benefit breakfast for Gary Davidson is Saturday
SALEM -- The benefit breakfast for Gary Davidson will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave. Proceeds will benefit Davidson who is recovering from a double lung transplant. Sausage gravy and biscuits and fresh fruit will be served.
The grand opening of the clothes pantry will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at the church. Clothes are free to anyone who has a need, no forms or requirements are needed. The clothes pantry will remain open from 10 a.m. to noon the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
Friends of the Banquet sponsoring meal on Monday
SALEM -- Friends of the Banquet will sponsor the next Banquet in Salem from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. Salem Community Center hosting swim lessons
SALEM -- Salem Community Center will host another session of the American Red Cross swim lesson program from Sept. 30 through Nov. 18. Classes will be held every Saturday. Six learn to swim levels are available. Cost is $70 for non-members and $55 for members. A multiple child discount is available. Crestview collecting school supplies for Texas students
COLUMBIANA -- Crestview Local Schools will continue to collect school supplies for the students of Houston, Texas, until Sept. 17. Bins will be located in front of all building offices and at the entrance gate during today's Crestview vs Akron North football game.
Crestview teachers will be honored for their outstanding work during Teacher Appreciation Night at today's football game.
R&L Trucking will have its education training center truck in the parking lot of the Performing Arts Center through halftime. Crestview Local Schools will receive a $1,000 donation and $1,000 scholarship from R&L for a student. Also, a student will be honored for outstanding citizenship during pregame festivities.
Multiple road closures this weekend at Mill Creek
YOUNGSTOWN -- Multiple road closures throughout Mill Creek MetroParks are scheduled this weekend due to the YMCA Community Cup and the Green Cathedral Half-Marathon and 5K.
The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday for the YMCA Community Cup: West Glacier Drive, West Drive, Bears Den Drive, New Cross Drive, Cross Drive, West Cohasset Drive, High Drive, Chestnut Hill Drive and Valley Drive.
The following roads will be closed to vehicular traffic as well as cyclists and pedestrians from approximately 6 a.m. until noon Sunday for the Green Cathedral Half-Marathon and 5K: Bears Den Drive, Cross Drive, New Cross Drive, Lily Pond Drive, West Drive, West Glacier Drive, East Park Drive, Valley Drive, Chestnut Hill Drive, High Drive and West Cohasset Drive.
