SALEM -- The fourth annual First Friends Family Fall Fest will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. today at the church, 1028 Jennings Ave. In the event of rain, this free event will be moved to Sunday. Food will be served including barbecued pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, cole slaw and chips.
Activities are planned for all ages featuring face painting, inflatable obstacle course, inflatable bounce castle, scavenger hunt, children's games, hay wagon rides, train rides, pie-baking contest, cornhole, yard games, popcorn machine, build-your-own caramel apple dessert and live music.
NORTH LIMA -- The Victory Gospel Jubilee returns to the Old School Marketplace at 6 p.m. today with a concert featuring a local favorite quartet, God's Quad, in the auditorium and sanctuary of The Gate Church. God's Quad was formed in the 1980s and currently consists of Jay Clark of Salem, Mark Burcaw of North Benton, Lee Kurtz of Columbiana and Becky Vignon of Washingtonville. The Jubilee, in its sixth year of concerts, is hosted by the Golden Street Singers of Farmdale. It will be God's Quad's first appearance at the Jubilee. There is no admission charge. A free will offering is accepted. The Old School Marketplace is the former South Range High School at 11836 South Ave. It is handicap accessible. For information call 330-933-6403.
DAMASCUS -- Damascus United Methodist Church and Middle Sandy Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Homeworth will host its monthly community breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. today at the Damascus church at 300 Valley Road.
The all-you-can-eat, made to order meal includes pancakes, eggs, sausage, bacon, toast, juice and coffee. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10. Breakfast proceeds will benefit the 2018 summer mission trip.
COLUMBIANA -- "Back to Church Sunday" begins on Sept. 17 at the Columbiana First United Methodist Church. Special music starts at 10 a.m. followed by a worship service at 10:30 a.m.
EAST ROCHESTER -- A Swiss steak dinner will be served from 4 to 7:30 p.m. today at the East Rochester United Methodist Church at 24754 U.S. Route 30. The meal will include mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls, applesauce, cole slaw, old-fashioned pies and desserts and beverages. Cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Dine-in or carryouts are available. To order in advance call 330-894-2515. Proceeds will be used for a new air conditioner in the sanctuary and also missions.
SALEM -- The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. Giant Eagle will sponsor the meal and serve chicken, macaroni and cheese, green beans, salad, fresh fruit and vegetables, and cookies. Additional sponsors are needed. NEW GARDEN -- The New Garden United Methodist Church will host it s annual fall rummage sale at the church, 7165 state Route 9. The public is invited from 9 a.m. to 4 .m. Oct. 13; and 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 14 and 21. Both Saturdays will feature the popular "$4 per bag day." There will be a bake sale and lunch available for purchase including homemade soups, sandwiches, pies, pop and coffee. Homemade cole slaw will be for sale or for order. LISBON -- The public is invited to attend a live broadcast of the 187th semi-annual worldwide conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at noon and 4 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 at the Lisbon Chapel, 7250 Lisbon Road. Sessions will be broadcast from The Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. Messages will be given by Thomas S. Monson, president of the church, as well as members of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles and other general authorities and officers of the church. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir will provide music for the conference. Also, the choir's live broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" begins at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 1. The broadcast is also available on the internet at lds.org as well as on BYU-TV, Mormonchannel.org, Mormon Channel mobile apps and Mormon Channel YouTube.
