to hold informal gathering

LISBON – The David Anderson High School Class of 1968’s informal get together for classmates begins at 5 p.m. Sept. 22 at Mark’s Landing.

Salem Masons to host public

breakfast buffet on Sept. 22

SALEM–A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, ham, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.

The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.

‘Downtown Dining Experience’ tickets available at the Salem chamber

SALEM — This year’s “Downtown Dining Experience” will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 25. Tickets are on sale at the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce office, 713 E. State St. With the purchase of a $35 ticket, attendees can sample delicious cuisine from the following restaurants: Boneshakers, Rancho Viejo, Ricky’s English Pub, BB Rooners, Lib’s Cafe and Market, Heggy’s, Ezio’s Italian Restaurant, Liebe Wein, Mike’s Penn Avenue Grille, Patty’s Cookies and More, and Coaches. Attendees can also enter a raffle for a chance to win a diamond necklace at Troll’s Jewelry and try for a chance at one of many basket raffles featured at each location. A 50/50 raffle will take place at BB Rooners, Boneshakers, and Rancho Viejo.

The Quakertown Trolley will run a route picking up diners at three locations, including the municipal parking lot across from Boneshakers, the parking lot of Rancho Viejo, and the municipal parking lot across from Ricky’s English Pub. This fundraising event is sponsored by the Salem chamber and the United Way of Northern Columbiana County with partial proceeds benefiting this year’s United Way campaign.

Salem Chamber’s Quakerfest

scheduled for Oct. 13 in downtown

SALEM — The Salem Area Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Quakerfest on Saturday, Oct. 13, in downtown Salem from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plans are under way to have local clubs, organizations and churches set up tables in front of businesses on East State Street and within McCulloch Park. There will be hayrides sponsored by the Salem firefighters, a petting zoo, pony rides, train rides, ventriloquist, balloon artist and various children’s activities.

An “Under the Big Top” theme will be hosted at the Salem Historical Society. Table and tent vendors are currently being sought and are asked to call the chamber at 330-337-3473 for an application or go to the chamber’s website at salemohiochamber.org and download an application.

Vendors needed for West Point Lions craft sale set for Oct. 27

LISBON — Vendors are needed for the West Point Lions Club’s craft sale to be held Oct. 27 at the Lisbon Lions Club, 38240 Industrial Park Road. Mile Branch Grange resumes

soup sales this week

ALLIANCE — Mile Branch Grange at 495 Knox School Road will hold this season’s first drive-thru soup sale on Sept. 13. On the second Thursday of each month, two soup choices will be offered on a rotating basis at $6 per quart. Stuffed pepper soup and loaded baked potato soup will be available this month for pick up from 4 to 6 p.m. All soup must be pre-ordered by noon Sept. 12.

Call 330-821-8023 to reserve soup and leave your name, phone number, type of soup and number of quarts. Information about upcoming soup sales will also be available on the Mile Branch Grange Facebook page.

Proceeds will be used to continue the grange’s many community projects, including allergy-free trunk or treat, Alliance Habitat for Humanity, Alliance Community Hospital Prayer Shawl Ministry, allergy-free Easter egg hunt, A Case for Smiles pillowcases, Project Linus blankets, annual scholarships, Pegasus Farms and the annual community fair.

Aut-Mori Grotto to host pancake

breakfast Sept. 22 at banquet hall

YOUNGSTOWN — Aut-Mori Grotto will host an all-you-can-eat (pancakes only) breakfast from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 22 at the Grotto Banquet Hall, 563 N. Belle Vista Ave. The meal also includes link sausage, eggs, potatoes, sausage gravy and biscuits, coffee and juice. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Aut-Mori Grotto is a non-profit organization comprised of master masons and supports local charities. For more information about this event, its charities or membership, call 330-720-2660.

Free jazz concert featuring

Yarnell Five to be held at SCC

SALEM — A complimentary jazz concert will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Salem Community Center, 1098 N.
