Weingart Cousins hold gathering

SALEM -- Weingart Cousins met recently with five in attendance for breakfast. The next meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. Nov. 7 at Adele's Place.

to host breakfast

SALEM--A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Oct. 27 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2. The menu offers pancakes, waffles, ham, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.

The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.

Tables still available for WP Lions show

LISBON -- Tables are still available for the West Point Lions Club's craft sale to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Lisbon Lions Club, 38240 Industrial Park Road. Cost is $25 for an 8-foot table with chairs (electric is provided). There also will be a Chinese auction and 50/50. Baked goods and food will be available for purchase. 'Night at the Oasis' set for Nov. 17

CANFIELD - The public is invited to "A Night at the Oasis" fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in the dining hall at Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road. "A Night at the Oasis" is an original script 1920's murder mystery dinner theater. Diners will have their choice of one of three entrees, prime rib, Chicken Francese or crab-stuffed cod with salad, roll and dessert.

Tickets are $60 each or $100 per couple and must be purchased in advance; 1920's dress is optional but suggested. All proceeds will benefit Camp Stambaugh that will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2019. Tickets can be purchased from noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Camp Stambaugh Scout Shop; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays at the Great Trail Council Scout Shop, 1601 S. Friendly Squares

to hold dance

NILES -- The Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Niles Senior Citizens Opportunity for Personal Endeavor (SCOPE) Center, 14 E. State St. Gene Hammond will be the caller and Frankie Hammond will cue line dances. The theme for the dance is "Veterans." This will be a high/low dance with alternating tips for new dancers currently taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual and light refreshments will be served. Saxon sausage sale pick up day Oct. 27

SALEM -- The Salem Saxon Club at 1980 Newgarden Road will hold its fall sausage sale pick-up day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 27. Sausage sandwiches and coffee will be available to purchase.

Rope sausage is available at $3.50 per pound in mild, garlic and hot.

United FFA honors talent show finalist

HANOVERTON -- Members of the United Future Farmers of America (FFA) recently congratulated Megan Drake on being a finalist in the 2018 National FFA Convention Talent Show held in the Indianapolis Convention Center. Drake will perform sometime during the week of Oct. 22. Drake performed in the talent show in May at the Ohio FFA state convention and received fourth place overall. She also was honored to sing the National Anthem in front of over 7,000 members and guests at the state convention as well. Drake had to audition for the National FFA Talent Show in July. She is the daughter of Todd and Darlynne Drake and serves as the United FFA president.
