NW annual fishing tournament set
NEW WATERFORD--The village will host its annual fishing tournament Thursday at New Waterford Park. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with kids fishing from 9 to 10 a.m. and open class adults from 10 to 11 a.m. Prizes will be awarded in four age division: children 5 years and under, children ages 6 to 10, children ages 11 to 16 and open class/adults. Free hot dogs and pop will be provided to everyone.
Smith Center garage sale July 13
SALEM--The Smith Center will be holding its annual summer rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 13. There are many new residents so new things to shop for including furniture, jewelry, knock knacks, Christmas trees, tin signs and glassware.
Job search class
at Salem library
SALEM-- Technology instructor Stephanie Peterson will help people with job searches during the "Search the Right Places" program at 6:30 p.m. July 10 in the Salem Public Library study room #1 on the library's upper level. Peterson will help locate helpful sites for productive job searching. The class is open to the public and free of cost to attend. If possible bring a device to class to practice on.

Experience hiking
in Salem July 15
SALEM--Become a part of the fun at the trailhead of Waterworth Memorial Park's Nature Trail at 6:30 p.m. July 15 when life-long hiking enthusiast, Hildy Deemer, leads a walk of the trail and teaches about the adventure and benefits of hiking. Hiking is an excellent way to experience the area you live in or are visiting. It doesn't require specialized training or equipment and can be enjoyed at any age. Hiking can be at the same time educational, relaxing and an excellent form of exercise.
Comfortable footwear and clothing are encouraged as well as insect repellant for the Nature Trail walk.

This program, presented through a partnership of Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Salem Public Library, is open to the public and free of cost to attend. Go Wild in the Park programming takes place twice each month and offers a variety of learning experiences for all ages.
Salem library to host Google class
SALEM--The Salem Public Library will host another class in the Google software series from 4 to 5 p.m. July 16. Google offers a web-based software office suite spreadsheet program that is free to use. It is included in its Google Drive service. Technical Instructor Kathy Bennett will explain, step-by-step, how to produce spreadsheets. Build technical skills during this program that is open to the public and free of cost to attend.
