-- Mary Peterson, Negley, was cited for stop sign following a traffic stop on South Elm Street at 3:33 p.m. Sunday.
LEETONIA
-- Officers responded to the 700 block of Columbia Street at 8:36 p.m. Friday in reference to a suspicious person, but they were unable to find anyone committing illegal activities.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
-- Derek Rinehart, 24, Sebring, was cited for driving under suspension and failure to obey a stop sign on private property following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Redwood and Lynnwood drives at the Sebring Lake Estates in Beloit at 1 p.m. Sunday. Rinehart was northbound and pulled from the stop sign at the same time as an eastbound vehicle driven by Adam M. Hopple, 32, Beloit, causing the collision. No injuries were reported.
-- Jessica Leann Stanko, 35, Lowellville, was cited for failure to reinstate license following a traffic stop on U.S. Route 62 near Knauf Road at 3:28 p.m. Sunday.
-- Alizabeth L. Michaels, 39, Lowellville, was cited for possession of marijuana and a marked lanes violation following a traffic stop on state Route 165 near Beaver Creek Road at 12:02 a.m. Monday.
-- Police were called to a domestic dispute at a home on Pendleton Street at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, where Jerry Holbem said his girlfriend's brother lives with them and he came home to find the basement light on. Holbem told Heather Crawford he was tired of her brother always leaving the light on and an argument resulted. Holbem said he just wanted to leave for the night and was given a ride by police to the county fairgrounds. Meanwhile, Crawford asked that an ambulance be summoned because she wanted to be mentally evaluated at a local hospital.
-- A worker at the Hornsby House, Rose Drive, detected a strong odor of marijuana in the hallway at 4:55 a.m. Friday. Police arrived and was directed to the room of Rex Borreli and knocked on the door. Borreli opened the door but not before police heard him moving things around, and he denied having any drugs. Police were given permission to search the room and illegal drugs were found.
-- Bruce Baker, Greentree Place, reported at 2:24 p.m. Saturday there was a multicolored Coupe DeVille parked behind his house for some time after being left there by about five people. There was no front license plate and the rear plate stated "RESCUE 8" with a red cross it. Baker said he would wait a while longer to see if they returned before calling back to have the car towed.
-- Renee Rodeheaver, the manager of the Dollar General, reported Saturday someone poured what appeared to be coffee on her vehicle, and this is the fourth time it has happened. Police intend to look at surveillance video, but in the meantime she was told to park her vehicle in front of the building so her co-workers could keep an eye on it.
-- A caller reported there was a dog running loose near the start of the bike trail at 9:24 a.m. Saturday, and police determined the canine belonged to someone at the county homeless shelter on Maple Street and they were trying to track down the dog.
-- Three women were reportedly being chased by Jay Farrow near the Steel Trolley Diner at 1:09 a.m. Saturday. Selena Salinas, Ana Chestin and Julia Frenzel said they were going into the diner when Farrow approached the trio and asked for their phone numbers and to be his girlfriend. He also invited them back to his place, and all three panicked and began running toward the police department, with Farrow giving chase. They only asked that police speak with Farrow about the incident.
-- Devin Carlini of Youngstown and Bonnie Burcham of Washington Street were the drivers in a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of North Jefferson and East High streets at 1:26 p.m. Friday. No injuries resulted.
-- Howard Smith, East Chestnut Street, reported having problems with his neighbor's dog running loose and attacking his dog. Smith said the neighbor, Erwin Duncan, came on his deck and the two began arguing. Smith said Duncan punched him in the face, breaking his glasses, and he responded by pushing Duncan, who fell through the deck railing into the yard. Smith said he did not want to press charges but wanted his glasses fixed. Duncan was not home but his wife said he had spoke to another officer about the dog incident and he did not wish to press charges either.
-- A caller reported finding a syringe and needle in the men's restroom at Smith Oil at 7 p.m. Friday, but police called to the scene could not find the syringe/needle there or in the women's restroom
-- Kevin Kriss reported at 2:33 a.m. Friday he was walking his dog by the county homeless shelter when two men began cursing and threatening him. Police spoke to Billy Styen and Richard Perish who said Kriss appeared to be drunk and was trying to start a fight with them. Kriss did not appear drunk and was told to stay away from them.
-- Police were called to the Rite Aid at 1 p.m. Friday, where they found Jay Farrow, who was agitated because his debit card was not working and he was just trying to purchase more minutes for his phone. Police were able to get Farrow to calm down and he apologized. He then purchased the items using cash.
SALEM
-- A business owner in the 1600 block of East State Street reported at 5:21 p.m. Monday that a tire on an employee's car was punctured by an unknown object. The report said the damage appeared to be the same as other incidents that happened overnight. A man in the 1000 block of East Pershing Street reported the tire on his vehicle slashed while parked in his driveway.
-- Police were called at 3:09 p.m. Monday to the Church of Our Savior in the 800 block of East State Street for a report of several vehicles that didn't belong on the property. Police made contact with the people who said they were using the location for a hot spot for the Pokemon Go game. They said they were just leaving.
-- Trash was reported all over a yard in the 700 block of Southeast Boulevard at 2:56 p.m. Monday. The owner was notified.
-- A woman in the 900 block of South Union Avenue reported at 2:54 p.m. Monday that someone egged her vehicle in her driveway.
-- A woman in the 300 block of East Third Street reported at 2:15 p.m. Monday that her back door was kicked in while she was inside. She identified two men and said one took his property back. The incident is under investigation.
-- Richard Allen Groff, 33, of 2267 state Route 45, Salem, was charged with theft and taken to the Columbiana County jail with further charges pending after being caught with multiple handbags Monday afternoon after allegedly being identified in a video of someone entering unlocked cars and taking items in the Salem Regional Medical Center parking lot. Police were first contacted at 12:35 p.m. for a report of a male seen on video entering unlocked vehicles in the hospital parking lot and taking items. Groff was located on State Street near Brooklyn with multiple handbags and said all the bags belonged to him. He was identified on video wearing the same clothes and searching through a vehicle and taking the handbags, then walking away from the vehicle.
-- Police at 12:19 p.m. Monday checked on a male at the corner of South Madison and East State Street after receiving a call from an anonymous caller for a well-being check. The male was identifed and said he had just been released from the hospital and was on his way home. He didn't indicate there was any problem.
-- A woman in the 500 block of West Pershing Street contacted police at 11:55 a.m. Monday regarding unwanted mail she received. The officer said he would attempt to make contact with the people listed on the envelope.
-- A juvenile problem was reported at 11:37 a.m. Monday in the 1400 block of East State Street where a female juvenile accompanied by a woman advised an officer of details regarding an incident involving another female juvenile who had allegedly attempted to sexually assault her. The incident is under investigation.
-- A caller at 11:16 a.m. Monday reported an unknown male would not leave his residence in the 100 block of Rose Avenue. An officer spoke with the male, who said he would leave.
-- Suspicious activity was reported at 10:35 a.m. Monday in the area of the Salem Community Center, 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave., where officers responded and located a couple of knives in a wooded area.
-- Possible suspicious activity was reported at 10:22 a.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Pershing Street, which was under investigation. Police were called back to the residence at 2:57 p.m. for a male and female at the address for several minutes. They were told about the complaint and nothing was found.
-- A domestic dispute was reported at 5:34 a.m. Monday in the 300 block of West 10th Street. Officers spoke to both parties and learned there was an argument only.
-- Suspicious people were reported at 4:35 a.m. Monday on West Seventh Street where a caller said two people were wearing dark clothing and walking in the area. Nobody was located.
-- An officer left a warning tag at a residence in the 700 block of East Fourth Street after receiving a barking dog complaint at 1:33 a.m. Thursday. Nobody could be reached at the property.
-- An officer was flagged down at 11:29 p.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Third Street by a man who said someone in a black mini van threw eggs at him. The van was not located.
-- An officer at 11:14 p.m. Sunday saw a suspicious vehicle at a closed business in the 300 block of West State Street. A man said he was just dropping off a rental vehicle and gathering his belongings out of the car.
-- Police responded at 9:10 p.m. Sunday to the area of Centennial Park for a dispute between two females. One person was found at the corner of East Pershing Street and South Union Avenue and reported a known female was making threats towards her and following her while she was trying to walk home. An officer spoke to the known female who said the other person started an argument. She said nothing physical occurred and no threats were made.
-- Loud music was reported at 8:55 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East Fifth Street. The owner was told to turn it down.
-- Police responded to a domestic reported at 8:28 p.m. Sunday on East Sixth Street where a male said his ex-girlfriend was moving out and started an argument. He said he was getting her belongings out of the garage for her to take to her new apartment. She said he was going crazy inside the house and she wanted him checked out. He told officers he was going to get his medication changed and was fine. She left and he said she could come back Monday to pack up her belongings after things calm down.
-- A dog was reported at large at 8:14 p.m. Sunday on Franklin Avenue. An officer located the dog but could not catch it. The owner called in to the police department several minutes later and was told the location of the dog.
-- An anonymous caller at 7:59 p.m. Sunday reported an intoxicated driver in an SUV all over the road in the city. The vehicle was not located.
-- A suspicious male was reported at 7:38 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of East Third Street, but was not found.
-- A woman in the 500 block of South Union Avenue reported at 6:26 p.m. Sunday that someone scratched the side of her vehicle.
-- Alexis Hawkins, 22, of Chris Avenue, Washingtonville, was cited for assured clear distance after her southbound vehicle on North Lincoln Avenue failed to stop and struck the rear of another southbound vehicle which had stopped at the red light at 6:20 p.m. Sunday. No injuries were reported, with little damage to the car that was struck and no damage to the Hawkins vehicle. The report did not list the name of the other driver.
-- Amber Maraldo, 34, of 2649 Newgarden Ave., was taken into custody on a Columbiana County warrant for larceny after police were called to Giant Eagle, 2401 E. State St., for an unwanted person at 5:33 p.m. Sunday. A store manager said they were having a difficult time with a patron and did not want her in the store anymore. The manager and an officer made contact with the female and advised her, then after further discussion, it was agreed to allow her to continue shopping at the store. After the officer identified the female, an active warrant was found for her arrest and she was placed into custody. Officers remained on the scene with the female due to her having children with her. The children's father responded to take them and Maraldo was handed over to a deputy to be taken to jail.
-- A man in the 500 block of East Fourth Street called police three times, at 5:32 p.m. Sunday, at 5:23 p.m. and at 5:05 p.m., first to report a motorcycle parked in a handicapped spot, then to report a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner and then to report a verbal dispute. The owner of the motorcycle agreed to move the bike and in the case of the reckless vehicle, it was found legally parked. In the dispute, both parties spoke with police.
-- Ashley Carlariello, 24, of 2337 Oak St., was charged with theft and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to Walmart at 4:10 p.m. Sunday for a known female who allegedly attempted to steal merchandise.
-- A woman in the 1000 block of East Third Street reported at 2:30 p.m. Sunday that the neighbor's dog left the property. An officer spoke to the owner who was on the porch with the dog and said the dog never left the property. She said the woman is constantly calling police on her and she feels like she's being harassed.
-- Police responded at 2:29 p.m. Sunday to a burning complaint on Walnut Street where firefighters explained what could be burned, due to a wooden chair being on fire. The resident was advised of the consequences of future violations.
-- Shawn Woodall, 19, of Youngstown, was taken into custody on a warrant from Youngstown for a probation violation after police at 1:48 p.m. Sunday noticed possible illegal activity in the 100 block of West State Street. The warrant was discovered for Woodall and during a search after his arrest, police discovered suspected heroin and crack cocaine along with a small amount of cash. Charges are pending for the suspected drugs pending testing.
-- Illegal drug activity was reported in the city at 12:56 p.m. Sunday. Information will be given to the Drug Task Force.
-- A person in the 200 block of North Cunningham Road reported at 11:03 a.m. Sunday that someone took the rear license plate of his son's vehicle while in the parking lot of a business. He was told his options.
-- A domestic was reported over two cell phones at 6:05 a.m. Sunday on Jennings Avenue. No physical violence occurred.
-- Loud music was reported at 4:58 a.m. Sunday on South Lincoln Avenue, but was not heard by police.
