--Thomas Burgess, 24, of East State Street, and Christopher Conrad, 23, of French Street, Damascus, were each charged with open container after an officer on patrol in the 100 block of West State Street at 2:16 a.m. Saturday noticed two males drinking an alcoholic beverage. One male attempted to hide the beer can from the officer and the other entered a business. Both were issued the minor misdemeanor citation. One of the men made threats of causing harm to himself and was taken to Salem Regional Medical Center by EMT Ambulance.
-- Police were called to a gas station in the 100 block of West State Street at 2:04 a.m. Saturday for a suspicious phone call received by the business. A clerk advised a male on the other line said he was from corporate but continued to ask if she was working alone. An extra watch of the business was requested.
-- City police assisted Goshen Township Police at 1:46 a.m. Saturday with an operating a vehicle under the influence test at the station. A city officer also assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol with an OVI test at the station at 11:12 p.m. Friday.
-- Police were called for criminal damaging at 1:36 a.m. Saturday in the 300 block of North Lundy Avenue where a man noticed the back window of his neighbor's vehicle had been broken and he could not get in touch with the owner. An officer made contact with owner about the damage. The fire department responded to clear the road of glass. The incident is under investigation.
-- Possible narcotic abuse was reported at 1:08 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of East State Street. The vehicle was no longer there.
-- Police were called at 1:02 a.m. Saturday to assist Goshen Township Police on a traffic stop, with K-9 Argo requested at the scene. K-9 Argo indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia.
-- A reckless operator was reported in the 100 block of West State Street at 12:59 a.m. Saturday, but was not found.
-- Officers on patrol on South Howard Avenue at 11:58 p.m. Friday saw a person who appeared to be stumbling. The man said he had a few drinks and was walking to his daughter's house on the corner of West Wilson Street and South Howard Avenue. He was told to return to the residence for the remainder of the evening.
-- A caller at 11:34 p.m. Friday reported possible shots fired in the 900 block of Liberty Street. The woman heard fireworks but the noise sounded like a shotgun. Police were unable to find the source.
-- Michael Eberhardt, 26, of Old Lincoln Highway, East Liverpool, was cited for physical control, reasonable control and hit/skip after a caller at 11:10 p.m. Friday reported a vehicle struck a parked car in the 500 block of Columbia Street and now was parked at a business in the 200 block of South Lincoln Avenue. The driver was found to be impaired and was taken into custody. Several witnesses advised seeing the vehicle strike the parked car and then take off down the road. A passenger in the vehicle also said the driver struck the parked car. The passenger was given a ride home by a taxi due to being intoxicated. The vehicle was parked at the business until a valid sober driver could pick it up.
-- Police were called at 10:30 p.m. Friday to the 200 block of West 16th Street for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. A woman said her father kept driving her vehicle without her permission and he had a suspended driver's license. An officer spoke to the man who willingly gave the keys back to the daughter, who was a juvenile. He advised she was supposed to be home for the evening. Officers told her she needed to stay home due to her being a juvenile.
-- Walmart loss prevention personnel told police at 10:07 p.m. Friday that two males were being given no trespass orders for the store. Personnel did not want them back on the property. Police told the two males if they come back, they will be charged with criminal trespassing.
-- Pedro Daniel DeLeon DeLeon, 22, of South Lincoln Avenue, was cited for no driver's license and a stop sign violation after a traffic stop on South Broadway at East Wilson at 9:36 p.m. Friday.
-- A dispute was reported at 9:41 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. Officers arrived and found that a male wanted another male removed from a neighbor's address. He was told he could not decide who visited his neighbors.
-- A driver was given a verbal warning at 9:22 p.m. Friday for an equipment violation during a traffic stop at Cunningham Road and Bentley Drive. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, but nothing of significance was located.
-- A residential alarm was reported at 8:33 p.m. Friday in the 1900 block of Shady Lane. The exterior and interior of the residence was checked and everything was found secure.
-- Police responded at 8:18 p.m. Friday to an open burning complaint in the 100 block of West Pershing Street. The fire department put the fire out and a male was given a verbal warning and advised of the city burning ordinance.
-- Police were called at 7:22 p.m. Friday to Salem Regional Medical Center for an irate person. Staff said the person had been pink slipped by another department and was attempting to leave. Officers spoke to the person and told him he could not leave due to the form filled out requiring him to be there. He calmed down before officers left.
-- A hit/skip was reported in the Walmart parking lot at 6:13 p.m. Friday. A vehicle was legally parked in the lot when another vehicle backing out of a parking space backed into it and left. Video was requested from the business, with the incident under investigation.
-- A man in the 700 block of East Third Street reported at 5:51 p.m. Friday that a male in a red SUV was going around town selling fake jewelry.
-- Police responded at 5:30 p.m. Friday to the area of North Lincoln Avenue and East Third Street for a report of males stopping vehicles and asking for money. Nobody was located.
-- An anonymous caller reported a hole in the road in the 900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 4:51 p.m. Friday. The street department was notified.
-- A woman in the 300 block of Rose Avenue reported at 4:42 p.m. Friday that her husband stole money and a money order from her purse. She was told it is a civil matter due to the fact that they are married.
-- Police were called at 2:19 p.m. Friday to the 500 block of East Fourth Street for a welfare check on a resident, but officers were unable to make contact. Due to the circumstances, officers had the fire department respond and check the apartment. The resident was not located.
-- Police were called at 9:36 a.m. Friday to check the welfare of a city resident in the 500 block of East Seventh Street. The female was located in the 600 block of East Sixth Street and said she was fine.
