POLICE REPORTS
PERRY TWP.
— Police responded to a business in the 1900 block of North Ellsworth Avenue for a trespassing complaint at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday. An employee said an ex-employee showed up looking for some of his belongings and he told him he’s not permitted on the property. The person left. The employee was told to call police if the person returns.
— Police checked on a vacant home on Elberon Avenue where a neighbor at 6:48 p.m. Wednesday advised seeing a lot of people at the residence recently. An open door was found and police checked the inside but nobody was there.
— Police were asked to check on a vehicle in the parking lot of Fresh Mark on South Lincoln Avenue at 12:09 a.m. Wednesday. The vehicle had reportedly not been moved for several days. The caller was told this was not a police issue due to the vehicle being on private property.
— A resident at Salem Acres in the 1100 block of Prospect Street called police at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday regarding an injured crow on the property. An officer contacted a representative of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources who said they would pick up the crow and take it to rehabilitation. An officer was able to get the crow into a box until ODNR could arrive and pick it up.
SALEM
— An anonymous person at 4:47 a.m. Thursday reported drug activity going on in the area of the 100 block of East Sixth Street. An officer advised they were already aware of the situation and would keep an extra watch in the area. The person was told to contact police if they witness any activity.
— A resident in the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue called police at 1:10 a.m. Thursday to request help in removing a bat from the house. Soon after, the resident called back to say they were able to remove the bat themselves.
— During a traffic stop for an equipment violation at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday, a driver was given a verbal warning and gave verbal consent for a search of the vehicle. Nothing illegal was found.
— Trent Marcum, 21, of 10740 W. Pine Lake Road, was taken into custody on a warrant for receiving stolen property after an officer spotted him at 10:13 p.m. Wednesday getting out of a vehicle at Circle K East, 1125 E. State St. and knew of the warrant. The driver of the vehicle gave consent for a search and nothing illegal was found, with the driver free to go. After being processed, Marcum was handed over to a deputy with the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office.
— Police responded to the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:58 p.m. Wednesday to speak with a woman about a harassment complaint. She said she was receiving unwanted text messages from a known female who lives out of state. She was told to save all messages and not respond to the unwanted messages. The procedure for applying for a protection order was explained.
— An unruly juvenile was reported at 9:56 p.m. Wednesday in the 1400 block of East State Street. An officer spoke to the juvenile about the issue.
— A verbal dispute was reported between two males in the 500 block of North Ellsworth Avenue at 9:41 p.m. Wednesday. They told police they were talking to one another across the street but not arguing. They were told to keep the noise level down.
— An alarm was reported several times in the 200 block of West Ninth Street Wednesday, with the last at 7:43 p.m. and everything at the property secure each time.
— A man in the 500 block of Columbia Street reported at 7:06 p.m. Wednesday that he was having problems with his landlord and wanted a report on file about an earlier incident. He was told to contact police immediately if another incident occurs.
— A dog was reported at large in the 400 block of Arch Street at 6:39 p.m. Wednesday, but was not found.
— Police were called at 6:32 p.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of West 13th Street for a civil dispute. A repossession company had advised dispatch a vehicle was stolen from a car lot, but it was later found that the company wanted officers to locate the vehicle so it could be repossessed. The company was advised it’s a civil issue not a criminal matter.
— A key found in the area of North Cunningham Road and East State Street was dropped off at the police station at 5:06 p.m. Wednesday and placed in the lost and found.
— A woman in the 1200 block of Maple Street reported at 3:32 p.m. Wednesday that someone stole her daughter’s bicycle sometime the previous night. Police received a description of the bicycle and determined officers had located the bicycle several days earlier and had placed it in the recovered property area. The bicycle was returned.
— Police were called at 2:16 p.m. Wednesday to the 2000 block of Monroe to check the welfare of a city resident. After speaking with the man, he agreed to go the hospital emergency room for evaluation.
GOSHEN POLICE DISTRICT
— An officer responded to a disabled vehicle at U.S. Route 62 and Calla Road at 4:10 a.m. Tuesday and found that the vehicle had run out of gas, but that the driver’s parents were on their way with extra gas.
— An officer responded to a report of a man suffering a heart attack at Salem Hills Golf Course at 8:43 a.m. Tuesday and stood by until an ambulance arrived to transport the man to the Salem hospital.
— An officer responded to the area of state Route 534 and Western Reserve Road at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a disabled semi truck causing a traffic hazard. The officer provided traffic control until the vehicle was removed.
— An officer responded to an alarm drop at a 9000 block Lisbon Road home at 5:21 p.m. Tuesday and found a rear door unlocked. The officer was unable to check the home due to a large dog inside.
— An officer spoke with an 8000 West Pine Lake Road resident at 5:26 p.m. Tuesday regarding a shooting complaint made in a letter to Green Township trustees. The officer informed the resident of shooting laws and told her to contact the department the next time she shoots so that an officer can ensure proper safety precautions are being taken.
— An officer responded to the Sebring Lake Estates in Beloit at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in reference to an unknown juvenile slumped over a picnic table. The officer found the 17-year-old male slumped over and attempted to wake him several times. When the juvenile finally woke up he was found to be extremely under the influence of some type of narcotics. The juvenile admitting ingesting meth and Xanax, but was unsure of when. Beloit EMS responded and transported him to the Alliance hospital.
LEETONIA
— Sal J. Thompson, 18, Warren, was cited for driving under suspension following a traffic stop at Columbia and Lisbon streets at 9:21 p.m. Wednesday.
COLUMBIANA
— A 41-year-old woman reported Wednesday the battery was stolen from her car while she was at work at the Orange Leaf, which is at Firestone Farms. Police arrived and determined the battery was still there.
— A resident of Maple Street came to the police station on Wednesday to speak with an officer about a possible crime in which a juvenile was the victim.
— A caller reported two men were going door-to-door on West Salem Street at 3:51 p.m. Wednesday. An officer told them they needed to obtain a solicitor’s permit.
LISBON
— James Burgess, East Chestnut Street, reported losing his ATM card at the Sunoco north of town on Aug. 15 and he believes someone had used it since. Burgess showed police five charges, but police pointed out four were made on Aug. 9, and he was not sure about the other. Burgess was told to return when he was able to obtain additional information from his bank.
— Jeremy Timmons reported having a child custody issue at a home on Lee Avenue at 8:29 a.m. Wednesday. By the time police arrived, Timmons’ wife reported their daughter was in the van now and everything was fine. She produced paperwork showing she was to pick up her daughter from the babysitter at 8 a.m.
