Salem reports

-- A complainant was on station at 1:13 p.m. Saturday regarding a harassment incident that occurred on Sept. 1 and has been ongoing for some time. The complainant was at the football game and a known female was screaming at her and her daughter. The person grabbed her daughter by her sweater and spun her around yelling at her. An officer advised a report will be on file and to continue documenting any incidents.

-- Police responded to the 600 block of S. Lincoln Avenue at 1:17 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised that a juvenile refused to leave and there was a physical altercation. The had juvenile left and the complainant was advised of the options.

-- At 12:34 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 900 block of E. State Street where a Hummer drove off without paying for $30 in gas. Police made contact with the driver who said it was an accident and would return and pay.

-- Police responded to the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue at 8:55 a.m. Saturday where the complainant advised she was at a friend's and the homeowners got into a dispute over text messages. She was worried for her friend so she called the police and while doing so the male involved tried to stop her by grabbing her phone causing redness to her chest and neck. Police spoke with the mother of the complainant and advised her of what happened and explained the process of furthering anything criminal.

-- At 4:11 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 200 block of E. 5th Street where solicitors were located and advised that a permit was needed.

-- Police responded to the 600 block of E. 6th Street at 1:41 a.m. Saturday to check on a wanted man based on a tip. He was not home.

-- At 11:29 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 2400 block of E. State Street where a utility pole was on fire and along with firefighters blocked off traffic from Continental Drive to Cunningham Road until Ohio Edison fixed the problem. Police received a second call on the pole at 2:34 a.m. Sunday.

-- At 1:01 a.m. Sunday, police made a traffic stop in the 500 block of E. 3rd Street and the K-9 alerted. A search found drug paraphernalia and during the course of the investigation the driver, Audrey L. Wylie, 10460 Palmyra Road, North Jackson, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with evidence.

-- At 12:08 a.m. Sunday, police assisted the highway patrol with an OVI test on station.

-- At 11 p.m. Saturday, police made a traffic stop at Vine Avenue and E. 5th Street and found two juveniles to be intoxicated. They were charged with underage consumption and released to a parent/guardian.

-- At 9:59 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 100 block of W. Pershing Street for a suspicious vehicle report and a search found nothing illegal.

-- Police made a traffic stop for a turn signal violation at 7:08 p.m. Sunday. The driver was checked and a small red pill container was located on him with several different pills inside. He consented to a vehicle search and nothing illegal was located. He was given a verbal warning for the driving violation and advised to respond to the station with a prescription for his pills, which he did. One pill was taken for evidence for testing. Charges are pending.

-- At 6:59 p.m. Saturday, police responded to the 2700 block of E. State Street for recovered property and placed it in the lost and found in the police department.

-- At 6:37 p.m. Saturday, police made a warrant check in the 900 block of S. Lundy Avenue and were unable to locate the subject in question.

-- Police responded to the 2100 block of Monroe Street at 5:54 p.m. Saturday where there were several illegally parked vehicles. Police were unable to locate the owners and tickets were issued to each one.

-- At 5:10 p.m. Saturday, police responded to N. Union Avenue for a report of a child pointing a rifle at the trees. Police were unable to locate anything.

-- Police responded to the 300 block of Morgan Court at 2:44 p.m. Saturday where the complainant advised an unfamiliar vehicle stopped at the neighbor's mailbox and got the mail. Police left a phone message for the homeowner.

-- At 4:32 a.m. Sunday, police assisted the highway patrol on station with an OVI test.

-- Police made a traffic stop at 6:26 p.m. Friday in the 200 block of Hawley Avenue for an equipment violation. The K-9 alerted and a probable cause search located marijuana. Daniel W. Haschak, 427 Pearl Street, Leetonia, was issued a minor misdemeanor citation for marijuana and a written warning for the equipment violation.

-- At 5:48 p.m. Friday, police responded to the Hawley Avenue and E. 6th Street area for a report of fishing line strung across the road from pole-to-pole. An officer cut the line and disposed of it.

-- At 10:46 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1000 block of Liberty Avenue where the complainant advised someone was shining a flashlight in the neighbor's garage. The incident was in Perry Township and police there were notified. An officer checked the area and everything was OK.

-- At 9:09 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 2000 block of Oak Street where the complainant said a male subject struck both females at the residence. One had visible marks on her chest and photos were taken. The complainant advised the male was recently released from the hospital and was having mental issues. An officer spoke with him and he had several visible injuries. He said both females attempted to take his bank card. He attempted to leave and was struck by one. He was transported to the hospital for a head injury. Both females provided statements. The incident is under investigation.

-- Police in the 200 block of N. Lundy Avenue at 7:37 p.m. Friday observed an intoxicated man in the roadway. Matthew J. Crowl, 36048 U.S. 30, Lisbon, was cited for a minor misdemeanor of being intoxicated in the roadway.

-- At 11:09 p.m. Friday, police in the 500 block of E. 3rd Street were flagged regarding a fight. Police made contact with all involved. The victim declined to press charges. Everyone was sent on their way.

-- At 11:31 p.m. Friday, police made a traffic stop in the 1100 block of E. State Street for not having a license plate light and found the driver, Richard A. Holbrook, 340 N. Ellsworth Avenue, was driving under suspension and was charged for that.

-- At 1:45 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 600 block of E. 6th Street regarding a report of phone harassment. Police contacted the other party and advised them to cease contacting the complainant.

-- Police made a traffic stop at S. Madison Avenue and E. Pershing Street at 2:14 a.m. Saturday for several equipment violations. Desmond M. Page, 771 1/2 N. Lincoln Avenue, was charged with OVI.

-- At 3:04 a.m. Saturday, police responded to the 800 block of E. 3rd Street for a loud person report and advised the people in a vehicle to keep the noise down. Police found that one occupant, James W. Castelucci, 2850 Force Road, Shreve, was wanted in Stark County for failure to appear for domestic violence. He was taken to Alliance and turned over to Stark County deputies.

-- At 11:11 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 500 block of E. 5th Street for a report of juveniles fighting. The address given didn't exist and police were unable to locate the fight.

-- At 11:17 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1200 block of N. Lincoln Avenue regarding a verbal dispute. The people advised a young child was being loud and would keep it down.

-- At 4:17 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 1300 block of N. Lincoln Avenue for a report of harassment. The complainant advised of getting unwanted phone calls from a family member and was advised of the options.

-- At 3:06 p.m. Friday, police responded to the 400 block of W. State Street and recovered a bike that was taken to the police department for safekeeping.

-- Police observed a vehicle with a woman in it in the 100 block of N. Howard Avenue at 1:08 p.m. Friday. Police thought she had a warrant out and confirmed her identity. Ashley Goudy-Mehno, 12205 Goshen Road, Lot 217, Salem, was taken into custody on a parole violation for failure to appear for trafficking in counterfeit drugs.

-- At 9:05 a.m. Friday, police assisted the Columbiana County drug task force on a traffic stop. It was conducted and the investigation finished.

-- Police responded to the 1700 block of S. Lincoln Avenue at 2 p.m. Friday for a report of a vehicle being operated in a reckless manner, and for possible road rage. Police were unable to locate anything.

-- At 8:58 a.m. Friday, police received a key on station and logged it into the lost and found.

-- A West Park Avenue woman reported at 6:21 p.m. Saturday she was involved in a domestic dispute with her husband.

-- Two adult brothers on West Park Avenue reportedly were involved in a dispute at 6:15 p.m. Saturday. Andrew Nutt was issued a phone harassment order to cease harassing Richard Braham by phone.

-- A woman reported a man at the Circle K acting strangely at 5:53 p.m. Saturday.

-- Valerie Milhoan, no address listed, went to the police station at 8:21 a.m. Saturday to speak to police.

-- Leetonia police requested a police officer back up one of their officers going to a call about a suspicious vehicle in the area of Lisbon-Canfield Road at 2:43 a.m. Saturday.
