-- An audible alarm was reported at 12:27 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue where officers found an open door at a business. The interior was found it empty and secure. K-9 Simon was used during the search and a keyholder responded after being contacted. Police received a noise complaint at 12:29 a.m. from a West Wilson Street resident who heard the alarm.
-- Shawn Cassinger, 51, of 500 E. Fourth St., was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called at 11:30 p.m. Monday to Salem Regional Medical Center for an intoxicated disorderly male who was walking out of the hospital and causing a nuisance to hospital staff. He had already been given a verbal warning during a previous call and was refusing any further treatment. He was taken into custody and transported to the Columbiana County jail.
-- A suspicious person reported at 10:59 p.m. Monday at Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., was found in the 100 block of Ohio Avenue at his residence and appeared to be intoxicated. He was told not to leave home or he could face criminal charges.
-- A man in the 600 block of East Sixth Street reported at 10:58 p.m. Monday that his stepson took his vape pen. He was told it's a civil matter. He also advised that $546.99 was taken from his Paypal account. He had already made a report with another officer.
-- Residents in the 1200 block of Cedar Ridge were told about a noise complaint at 10:31 p.m. Monday and to turn the music down.
-- Police investigated a suspicious vehicle at 10:31 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Newgarden Avenue in the parking lot of a closed business. The driver told police he was dropping off a passenger and then headed home. All people in the vehicle were identified.
-- A man from the 400 block of East Fourth Street reported at 10:25 p.m. Monday that he came home and his basement door was opened. Officers checked the interior of the basement, but found nothing.
-- Loud persons were reported at 10:10 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Vine Avenue. The resident was told to keep the noise down.
-- A caller from the 800 block of East Sixth Street reported at 9:28 p.m. Monday that while he was in the hospital, a known male ordered something off his eBay account. The incident is under investigation.
-- Police and firefighters responded to Smith Center apartments on East Fourth Street at 8:43 p.m. Monday for a report of a male who fell through his screen door. He was transported by ambulance to Salem Regional Medical Center.
-- A woman from North Ellsworth Avenue reported at 8:33 p.m. Monday that her son was jumped at Centennial Park by several people and had several marks on his neck. Fire department first responders were called and she said she would take him to Salem Regional Medical Center. Officers responded to Centennial Park to speak with the others involved. A female said she was physically assaulted by the male and she was also pregnant. Fire department first responders were called because she was having lower abdominal pain. Two male suspects said the other male was making derogatory remarks and started the fight. One male suspect also said the juvenile male had broken his cell phone by throwing it. Written statements were gathered about the incident. The female was taken to the hospital by Damascus EMT. The incident will be sent to the prosecutor for review for possible charges.
-- A neighbor dispute was reported at 7:56 p.m. Monday in the 1300 block of East Pershing Street over a shared driveway, with a woman saying her neighbor placed wood barricades in the middle of the driveway. The neighbor told police they're in the process of getting a property survey to establish the property lines. The neighbor was told not to put up barricades until the lines are determined.
-- A woman in the 200 block of West Seventh Street reported at 6:44 p.m. Monday that a male was making threatening remarks via phone and video. She previously made a police report several weeks ago for a similar matter. She deleted the messages and was told to keep them if she receives any in the future. The incident will be reviewed.
-- A woman reportedly swiped a vehicle with a shopping cart in a parking lot at 2495 E. State St. at 6:14 p.m. Monday and told police she wasn't paying attention and didn't realize she had damaged the vehicle until after she struck it. Both the vehicle owner and the woman were told to contact their insurance agents.
-- Police charged four men with obstruction of official business after being called for suspicious persons at 5:19 p.m. Monday in the area of West Second Street and Jennings Avenue. A resident in the 100 block of Jennings denied knowing anything about the males, who were later found in the residence in question. They didn't obey commands and all three were taken into custody for obstruction. The Columbiana County Drug Task Force obtained a search warrant which was executed at a later time and another male inside the home was taken into custody for obstruction. All were taken to the county jail. One was also charged for harassing a police dog for taunting K-9 Simon. The men charged included Bradley Reeder, 35, of 184 Jennings Ave., Salem, and Chandor Pettress, 24, Keenon Taylor, 18, and Reginald Jones Jr., 22, all of Youngstown. Pettress had the charge for the K-9.
-- A passing motorist at 4:45 p.m. Monday reported a 10-year-old boy in the alley behind Ricky's English Pub on East State Street allegedly climbing up onto the roofs and drain pipes in the alley. Police located three boys in the alley and they said they had not been climbing on the roof and were waiting for a parent to pick them up. One boy said they were supposed to meet the parent near the Salem Fun Factory, so they were told to go there.
-- A caller at 3:18 p.m. Monday complained about workers at an old bank property on State Street blowing leaves and trash into residential yards. Officers spoke to the workers and had them clean up the mess.
-- A person refusing to leave a property on West Wilson Street at 3:01 p.m. Monday said he would leave. Officers stood by while he gathered his personal belongings.
-- A dispute reported at 2:07 p.m. Monday on West Fifth Street was determined to be a civil issue between a landlord and former tenant over property. An employee of the landlord was able to provide proper paperwork from court to show the tenant was legally evicted. The former tenant was told he would be arrested for trespass if he returned to the property.
-- An officer checked on a small dog running at large in the area of East Third Street and Hawley Avenue at 1:54 p.m. Monday. The owner was tracked down and given a warning for dog at large. Shewas sending her boys to find the dog.
-- Police took parking complaints Monday morning for illegally parked vehicles on East State Street and Maple Street, with owners contacted to fix the problems.
-- A resident on Highland Avenue reported at 8:48 a.m. Monday that someone entered his vehicle and took some change.
-- A woman on South Union Avenue reported at 7:27 a.m. Monday that someone took parts from one of her outside decorations.
Columbiana
-- Brian Jeffers, 30, East Palestine, was cited for driving under suspension and expired plates following a traffic stop at the intersection of state Route 7 and Metz Road at 5:57 p.m. Monday.
Lisbon
-- Luis Alicea reported Friday his wife, Samantha, had been missing since Aug. 29, along with his motorcycle. Alicea said he did not report it sooner because his wife had been known to leave before but never for this long. A missing persons report was filed and police learned Tuesday Samantha had been in Salem.
-- Dustin T. Whaley, 22, Ravine Street, East Liverpool, and Gage Ough reported Friday that Ough's Social Security disability debit card had been stolen and was used to make two bank account withdrawals totaling $853 from an an ATM in Lisbon and then a $16 purchase at the Circle K. Whaley believes he may know who is responsible.
-- Kyle Likens asked police at 6 p.m. Thursday for an officer to accompany him to the home of Dakota Stockman to retrieve his belongings. Likens became upset during the exchange and he threw some items across the Smith Oil parking lot. The officer helped him retrieve the belongings and calm down.
