PERRY TWP.
— A man in the 1100 block of West Perry Street reported by phone at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday that he was scammed out of $200. First he told police that a music website had taken the money from him without his knowledge, then he said he thought a company online was a credit card bank and he gave the company his banking information because he wanted to get a loan. An officer began to advise him not to give out his banking information to an unknown online website and while speaking to him, the man hung up.
— Police responded at 7:06 p.m. Tuesday to the 1100 block of West Perry Street for what was believed to be a domestic situation. A woman said she could hear screaming from a male and female and also a juvenile. Police spoke with the people who said they were just playing with the juvenile and didn’t realize they were being that loud. An officer told them since they live in an apartment complex to try to keep the volume and the horseplay to a minimum and they said they would quiet down.
— A woman and her realtor reported at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday that the residence she owns on Lake Avenue was just put on the market and during a recent inspection they found that someone had broken inside through a basement window, stealing copper tubing from a bathroom.
— The township road department advised police on Tuesday that a stop sign had been struck and knocked over on Brittany Lane at Old Coach Road. The road department will replace the sign.
SALEM
— Michael Hamilton, 28, of 1007 E. Fourth St., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and taken to the Columbiana County jail after police were called to Circle K West at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday for a report of a man bragging about having a crack pipe on him. Officers located the male and found a black crack pipe inside his pocket during a probable cause search.
— David Boggs, 26, whose last known address was West Pershing Street, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia after police were called to the 600 block of West Pershing Street for suspicious activity at 12:18 a.m. Wednesday. A woman said her vehicle alarm was going off and she was unsure if anyone was around it. Officers checked the area and located three males wearing dark clothing. They said they were walking from the opposite direction headed to a nearby residence. They were patted down for weapons and gave verbal consent for a search of their personal belongings. Several drug paraphernalia items were located on one of the men and he was booked and taken to the Columbiana County jail.
— A barking dog was reported in the 600 block of East Perry Street at 10:57 p.m. Tuesday. An officer located the dog running across the street without a collar and the owner said the dog slipped its collar after being outside. The owner received verbal warnings for dog at large and barking dog and was told to get the dog registered or he would be cited.
— Randall Fegert, 53, of 378 E. Fourth St., was taken into custody on a warrant out of Columbiana County and handed over to a sheriff’s deputy after police were called to the 300 block of East Fourth Street for a dispute. A woman said her boyfriend was intoxicated and they were arguing. The police learned there was a warrant for his arrest.
— Jessica Smith, 32, of North Canton, and her passenger, Jeret Hiles, 34, of Alliance, were each charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying concealed weapons after a traffic stop at 9:39 p.m. Tuesday in the city for a driver with a suspended driver’s license. During the stop, K-9 Simon indicated to the presence of a narcotic odor. A probable cause search yielded multiple items of drug paraphernalia and additional paraphernalia was located on the male passenger. He also had a concealed weapon in his pocket and multiple knives were located concealed throughout the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were taken into custody and taken to the Columbiana County jail. Smith was also cited for driving under suspension. Items located inside the vehicle will be sent to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation for further narcotics testing. A lock box in the vehicle was also seized as evidence and will be turned over to the Columbiana County Drug Task Force.
— Police conducted a traffic stop at 7:27 p.m. Tuesday at Franklin and Maple and had K-9 Simon and his handler respond. K-9 Simon was deployed for an open air sniff of the vehicle but did not indicate to an odor of narcotics. The driver was issued a written warning for the traffic violation and sent on his way.
— Cheyenne Taylor, 18, of Depot Road, was cited for possession of marijuana paraphernalia, a minor misdemeanor, after a traffic stop at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of South Howard Avenue. The driver gave consent to a search and officers located paraphernalia in the vehicle. Taylor was given a warning for the driving offense.
— A tractor trailer was reported in a ditch along Pennsylvania Avenue near Ventra at 6:04 p.m. Tuesday. No damage was done and an officer remained on the scene until a tow company could remove the truck.
— A suspicious vehicle was reported at 5:02 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset and Lincoln Avenue, but was not located.
— A man in the 1300 block of East State Street called police at 4:35 p.m. Tuesday regarding text messages he received. He was told to block the number and officers called the number where the texts came from and spoke to a male who did not identify himself and denied sending any texts. He was advised to stop if he did send them.
— An officer at 4 p.m. Tuesday attempted to deliver a message to someone in the 400 block of Washington Avenue from the court, but was unable to locate the person.
— An anonymous person stopped an officer at 1:21 p.m. Tuesday and advised of illegal drug activity in the 900 block of East State Street. The information will be forwarded to other officers.
— Police responded at 12:18 p.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of West Pershing Street for a report of menacing. The victim said a female known to her showed up at her residence and threatened her. The victim was provided with options and officers spoke to the suspect and told her not to return to the victim’s residence. Information will be sent to the prosecutor for review of possible charges.
— Police were called at 10:26 a.m. Tuesday to Walmart on East State Street for a man who trespassed. Walmart chose to release him without the arrest process. He was warned by police not to come back and was escorted off the property by officers.
— The street department called at 8:59 a.m. Tuesday about a moving van parked on Franklin Avenue. An officer spoke to the driver who then moved it off the road.
LISBON
— A 911 hang-up call was received from a child on South Lincoln Avenue at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday. Police went to the home and spoke to two adults there, and they said everything was fine. The child denied making the call, and the officer told him 911 is only for emergencies.
— Police were called to Greentree Place after receiving a report at 12:36 p.m. Tuesday that someone might be trying to harm herself. The resident said the caller was crazy and she showed police there were no marks on her wrist. The caller was advised she was fine.
— Police were called to the United Methodist Church on Jan. 20 after security cameras showed a woman walked into the church and left with a checkbook belonging to the Cub Scouts. She returned less than a minute later with another woman. The woman re-entered the church, while the other stood watch by the door. The woman then left the church carrying a large tote container and got into a four-door vehicle and left with the other woman.
