-- An interior motion alarm was reported at 3:58 a.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of West State Street. Officers checked the exterior of the business and everything appeared ok.
-- Joseph Smith, 32, whose address was listed as 367 W. Ninth St., was taken into custody on a warrant for possession of dangerous drugs after police conducted a warrant check at the residence on West Ninth Street at 9:35 p.m. Wednesday. Smith was processed and turned over to a Columbiana County sheriff's deputy.
-- Police stood by at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of East Third Street at the request of fire department personnel, who were investigating a suspicious odor.
-- A man on South Union Avenue reported at 6:03 p.m. Tuesday that someone several years ago used his personal information to get DirectTV and never paid for the services. He recently ran a credit report and found the information. He requested a police report on file for DirectTV. The case is under investigation.
-- Police responded to the 900 block of East State Street for a property dispute at 5:42 p.m. Tuesday. A man from Aetna Street reported his roommate was not following the guidelines for using his vehicle and he wanted the vehicle returned. Officers made contact with the roommate and retrieved the keys to the man's vehicle. The man was also advised of the eviction process.
-- A parking ticket was issued at 5:34 p.m. Tuesday for a blue F150 parked with the left side to the curb in the 100 block of Penn Avenue, in violation of the parking ordinance.
-- An officer at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday spoke with a person who wanted to retrieve property for another person. The officer said the department would not give out the other person's property. The property owner would have to retrieve it.
-- A dog at large was reported at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of East Third Street. Officers located the animal in the 700 block and the owners were in the process of attempting to catch him.
-- Suspicious activity was reported at 4:47 p.m. Tuesday at Circle K West, 780 W. State St. A blue car was gone when police arrived and nothing appeared suspicious.
-- A building alarm was reported at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in the 2500 block of Bentley Drive, but no alarm was detected from any of the buildings in the area.
-- A man was reported acting in a suspicious nature in the 2200 block of East State Street at 4:31 p.m. Tuesday. The man was identified and told about the complaint. Officers did not see any violations.
-- An officer on patrol at 4:03 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of West Pershing Street and South Howard Avenue saw a person with an open container walking down the sidewalk from a residence. The officer stopped and spoke with the person who upon realizing the error he made disposed of the beverage. Due to the level of cooperation and short distance traveling, no citation was issued.
-- A juvenile in the 600 block of East Sixth Street made contact with police at 3:13 p.m. to report being threatened by other juveniles. The incident is under investigation.
-- A woman in the 500 block of East Fourth Street came to the police station at 2:29 p.m. Tuesday to report a possible scam, saying she received a call from the IRS. She was told to disregard the message because the IRS does not contact people by phone.
-- An officer on patrol at 7:07 a.m. Tuesday saw a female sleeping in a vehicle at the rear of the police station in the lot. The officer checked on her and found everything was fine.
