SHERIFF’S OFFICE

— Rich Burbick of the Crestview bus garage reported at 6:56 a.m. Monday there was an abandoned vehicle in high water at the intersection of Creek and Bull Creek roads in Unity Township. J and J Equipment came to tow the vehicle out and Robert L. Myers Jr., Creek Road, New Waterford, arrived to say it was his vehicle in the water. Myers said he was northbound on Creek Road at about 5 a.m. and had started to make the sharp turn at the intersection of Bull Creek when he realized he was in deep water running across Creek Road. The vehicle ended up in the ditch southwest of the intersection. Myers got out and walked back to his home before calling New Waterford police, who referred him to the highway patrol. He also had been making arrangements to have a tow truck come and remove the vehicle, but had no luck so he returned. J and J Equipment took it to his home.

— The owners of a Mahoning Avenue rental home in Knox Township reported at 9:20 a.m. Monday they had gone by the home, which the wife owns, and found the garage door and another door both open. Nothing appeared damaged or stolen.

— Someone reported skeletal remains near some freshly dug up dirt in Bowman Cemetery at 2:21 p.m. Saturday. The remains belonged to some kind of animal.

— John Matthew Deem and Dallas Wellington were reported at a home on state Route 39 in Yellow Creek Township fighting over the custody of their child. Deem claimed Wellington struck him several times in the face, while Wellington claimed Deem pushed her. Both were separated and signed a refusal to prosecute.

— Cindy Katona, no address listed, reported at 8:42 a.m. Sunday she has been a victim of fraud in Tennessee and Ashtabula County. She showed deputies court documents and paperwork, which she believed to be fraudulent. However, deputies only found the paperwork to have misspellings, possibly typos, but did not appear to be a conspiracy against her. She also told deputies she was having issues with her insurance and vehicle payments. When asked about it further, she told the deputy she is not making her payments and her vehicle is at risk for repossession. Deputies suggested she should make the payments.

— Russell Hendrick and his wife, Fairfield School Road, Fairfield Township, reported at 9:21 a.m. Saturday they were in bed and awoke to the sound of metal being cut. The wife looked out and saw her husband’s 13-year-old son cutting the door off of Hendrick’s truck, which had caught fire the day before. He told deputies he was cutting the door off to get the seat out of the truck to clean it. Deputies asked the 13-year-old if he got permission from his father to cut up the truck and he claimed he did not need it because the truck is farm property, which his grandfather left behind when he died. Russell Hendrick said he did not give his son permission and after it caught fire he was going to scrap the truck for money.

— Deputies were asked to check on Andrew Petersen, Roller Coaster Road, Elkrun Township at 12:22 p.m. Saturday. Peterson said he and his wife had an argument and he was packing a bag to leave.

— Deputies responded to Lowmiller Road in West Township at 10:53 a.m. Sunday where a woman said her roommate was moving out and she only had a few more items to move. She was concerned about her roommate possibly taking the appliances. She was told to document it if it happens and take the roommate to civil court.

— A neighbor dispute with a firearm involved was reported on Dutchtown School Road at 11:42 a.m. Sunday. Deputies met with Audrey Frances and Lorman Frye, who said the people who own the property next to them were using their driveway to access the property. Deputies then spoke with Michael and Jo Ann Anderson, who said they have been using the driveway to access their property for a few years and recently began having problems with the neighbors about it. On Sunday while they were unloading hay for their horses, Audrey Frances was making threats and fired a gun. They did not see him fire it, but heard the shot. Frances admitted to deputies she did fire her handgun into the hill behind her home.

— Someone in the area of Mindling Lane in the Walker allotment reported children riding dirt bikes recklessly in the roadways. Deputies checked the area and found some of the children in the area live on Lion Lane. Deputies spoke to one child, who does not live on Lion Lane to tell the others not to ride their ATVs and dirt bikes on the roadway.

— Damascus Community Center, Georgetown Damascus Road, Butler Township, reported at 7:54 p.m. Thursday people were camping in the woods. Deputies found two people camping and told them the park closes at dusk and there is no camping there. They packed up and left.

— Suzi Hughes reported at 7:07 p.m. Friday she parked her 2005 Cadillac at work at an address on Salem-Alliance Road, Knox Township, and when she finished her shift she found someone had struck the front of her vehicle.

— Amber Moraldo fell at the county jail and struck her head at 8:35 p.m. Thursday and was transported to a hospital.

— East Liverpool City Hospital reported at 9:13 p.m. Friday Thomas Mellott arrived at the facility and stated he had an accident on his four wheeler somewhere near Gavers. He could not provide a location, but stated he rolled the ATV without a helmet.

— A Raley Road, Elkrun Township, mother reported her son was being unruly. She was going to notify his probation officer on Monday, but wanted a report on file. He would not listen to her, left and went to her brother’s home.
