-- Police responded at 5:24 a.m. Thursday to the Salem Historical Society Museum, 208 S. Broadway Ave., for a motion alarm. Doors were found secure and when a keyholder arrived, the interior was also checked and everything appeared in order.
-- Stephen Robert Quinn II, 19, of 305 W. Wilson St., was cited for possession of marijuana paraphernalia after police responded at 3 a.m. Thursday to the area of South Howard Avenue and West Wilson Street for a male having anxiety and wanting to speak to an officer. The man, identified as Quinn, told police he recently smoked a large amount of marijuana and wanted to know if he was going to be all right. When asked if he wanted medical attention, he said he did not. He told police he had marijuana paraphernalia that he wanted officers to remove from his pocket. Officers removed the paraphernalia and then cited him.
-- Police at 2:32 a.m. Thursday responded to the Dollar General at 1000 W. State St. for an alarm drop and located a utility van at the front door of the building, along with another van on the east side of the building. Upon further investigation, police learned the owner of the van at the front was there to fix the front door and had documentation allowing him to be there. The second van was disabled due to a brake issue and the owner provided documentation for an appointment to have it fixed. He said he didn't know anyone in town and was staying in the van for the night. The manager of the business responded to the police station later and was advised of officers' findings.
-- Police responded at 1:47 a.m. Thursday to the 1300 block of East Pershing Street for a report of suspicious sounds outside. The exterior of the residence was checked, along with yards of adjacent homes, and nothing out of the ordinary was found.
-- Alisa Urbain, 47, of 266 Jennings Ave., was charged with domestic violence after police were called at 10:39 p.m. Wednesday to her residence for a domestic in progress. The victim was sitting outside his residence with several minor lacerations to his face and neck area. He said he and his girlfriend got into a physical altercation and she attacked him with a small carpenter knife. He refused medical treatment from first responders.
-- Police were dispatched at 9:27 p.m. Wednesday to the 1000 block of Jennings Avenue for a report of a silver vehicle driving recklessly doing donuts in the parking lot of First Friends Church. Police located the vehicle sitting stationary with steam coming out of the engine compartment, along with fresh grass in the wheel wells and tire tracks through several spots in the grass leading to the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were cited. The driver, a 15-year-old boy, was cited for juvenile offenses for no driver's license and reckless operation on private property. The passenger, Sarah E. Ewing, 18, was cited for wrongful entrustment permitting a minor without a driver's license to drive.
-- A woman in the 100 block of Hawley reported at 8:34 p.m. Wednesday that a known male juvenile walked past her residence and reportedly attempted to provoke her juvenile son. Officers learned the two boys used to be friends, but had a fight sometime earlier in the year. She said any time the other juvenile is with a group of other juveniles he tries to provoke her son. Officers spoke to the other juvenile and his mother. Both juveniles were told to avoid contact if they can not get along.
-- Police were called at 8:22 p.m. Wednesday to the 600 block of East Ninth Street for a domestic fight. The male had already left. A woman reported she had an argument with her live-in boyfriend and he was going to gather stuff to leave, then he got upset and broke a glass coffee cup and picked up a plastic/metal coffee cup and threw it at her head. Injuries were observed to her right ear. Police could not find him. Domestic violence charges were pending.
-- A caller at 8:09 p.m. Wednesday reported a barking dog in the 800 block of Granite Avenue, but police found it quiet.
-- Police were called at 8:01 p.m. Wednesday to the 700 block of North Union Avenue for a tree limb in the roadway. The limb was hanging down blocking the northbound lane. The street department had already been out on another tree down call and responded to cut the limb down.
-- A suspicious vehicle was reported at 6:09 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of South Ellsworth Avenue, but was not found.
-- An anonymous caller at 5:04 p.m. Wednesday reported loud persons in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. Police found some people on a porch talking, some were having a cookout and others were sitting and talking. All advised there were no problems and they said no one was yelling.
-- An alarm activation was reported at 3:37 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Adams Avenue. The windows and doors appeared secure.
-- A garbage can was reported stolen from the 900 block of East Sixth Street at 3:27 p.m. Wednesday.
LEETONIA
-- Kara Brooke Falkner, 23, Calcutta Smithferry Road, East Liverpool, was cited for driving under suspension and a marked lanes violation following a traffic stop on Columbia Street near Home Street at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday. The officer noticed a smell of marijuana but a search of the vehicle revealed nothing illegal.
-- Wayne T. Kaminski, 43, Old 558, Salem, was charged with disorderly conduct after ignoring an officer's command and becoming argumentative regarding flow of traffic at the K-12 campus at 2:21 p.m. Wednesday. Kaminski was also cited for failure to comply regarding an incident on a previous date in which he ignored the commands of an officer regarding the traffic flow.
-- Jeramy Robert Mahalek, 36, Crescent, Pa., was cited for loud exhaust, driving under suspension and expired registration following a traffic stop in the 38000 block of state Route 344 at 10:53 p.m. Wednesday.
