COLUMBIANA -- The 19th annual Clipper Cross Country Series opened Wednesday with its biggest field ever.
The were 167 runners registered and 161 finishers on the 1.85-mile course at the Ward Athletic Complex.
Scooby Dooby of Youngstown won the men's race in 10 minutes, 14.9 seconds.
East Palestine High School senior Alexis Cunningham topped the women's race in 11:03.5.
The second of four races will be held next Wednesday on the high school 3.1-mile course. Registration begins at 6 p.m. with the race starting at 7 p.m. Entry fee is $6. The races are timed with a chip this year with results being posted online.
Proceeds will benefit the Columbiana track and cross country programs.
