-- Police responded to the 600 block of Vine Avenue for a fight in progress at 3:04 a.m. Sunday, finding numerous people outside a residence and one initially being disorderly. Officers determined a husband and wife were having a verbal dispute that escalated to the point of the husband being disruptive. The husband calmed down and there had been no threats or violence. Officers told him to go inside for the night or he would be arrested for disorderly conduct/public intoxication if he continued to cause a disturbance. Officers remained in the immediate area after leaving and returned a short time later due to the dispute continuing between the husband and wife and the television having been broken. No threats or violence occurred. Domestic violence laws and consequences were explained. He agreed to go to sleep and the wife said there would be no further problems.
-- During a traffic stop at 12:39 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of East Pershing Street, the female passenger, Courtney Lynn Troyer, 25, of 54 S. Egypt Road, was taken into custody on an active warrant through the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office for theft. She was processed and turned over to a deputy for transport to the county jail. The driver, Eugene Clifford Striffler, 26, of the same address, was cited for driving under suspension. K-9 Argo gave a positive indication for a narcotic odor but nothing was located inside the vehicle.
-- A woman who found a dog at large in the area of Hawley Avenue and Cleveland Street brought the dog to the police station at 11:15 p.m. Saturday. The dog license number was obtained for the tag and the owner was located and sent a resident of her house to pick up the dog. The dog was returned to her.
-- A caller at 11:02 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of North Lincoln Avenue reported several people attempting to steal an American flag. A resident advised a male and female left westbound on East Sixth Street and one male left eastbound on East Sixth Street. The people pulled the flag out of the ground but were not able to take it. Nobody was located in the area.
-- Officers at 9:28 p.m. Saturday checked a business in the 900 block of West State Street while on a suspicious vehicle call at another business in the area. Officers found a door on the building unsecured and checked inside with nothing suspicious found. A key holder responded to secure the building. The suspicious vehicle at the other business had been reported at 9:06 p.m., with the building found secure. The owner of the vehicle was located at a residence across the street.
-- A key found laying in the area of Broadway Plaza on East Second Street was turned over to police at 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
-- Police checked on a 911 hang up call at 7:01 p.m. Saturday in the 600 block of South Lincoln Avenue. No problems were found.
-- Police were called at 6:43 p.m. Saturday to the 100 block of West Pershing Street for a reported dispute with motorists. A man who was highly intoxicated advised a male driving a gray Chevy SUV keeps yelling obscenities as he passes by. When speaking to officers, the man kept changing his mind on what he wanted done. Officers attempted to understand the issue with him due to intoxication. He said he did not need the officers.
-- A dispute was reported at 6:21 p.m. Saturday at an apartment complex in the 200 block of East Fourth Street. A man said an argument occurred between him and his girlfriend and at one point, she picked up a stick and walked toward the porch. He said she did not cause harm in any way and he didn't want anything done.
-- A 911 hang up call was reported at 4:34 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of Southeast Boulevard. A home owner said she did not call. Dispatch was able to contact the phone number and found the 911 call to be accidental.
-- A suspicious vehicle was reported at 2:34 p.m. Saturday in the 1800 block of Bentley Drive, but left before police arrived.
-- Police responded to McDonald's on East State Street at 2:21 p.m. Saturday for a reckless driver. A caller said a vehicle went through the red light on East State Street and pulled into the restaurant parking lot. The vehicle registration came back to an elderly female, but police were unable to make contact.
-- Police were called at 1:44 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of Vine Avenue for an ongoing dispute between the apartment managers and tenants. The caller said an apartment manager was recording tenants and their children living at the complex and several tenants were upset. The managers told officers the tenants are constantly screaming and yelling obscenities at them every time they leave their apartment. Officers did view videos of several tenants screaming obscenities. All were told to stay away from one another. The caller was told the managers are not breaking any law by recording the ongoing harassment.
-- A verbal dispute was reported in the 200 block of Vine Avenue at 1:13 p.m. Saturday. A female said a male starting yelling at her when she was attempting to talk to a neighbor. The male said the female continually harasses him. Both were told to stay away from each other.
-- Police were called at 11:13 a.m. Saturday regarding a missing runaway juvenile. The father said he found his daughter, but a female at the resident on East Third Street would not let him in. Officers made contact with the owner of the residence and located the juvenile, telling her to collect her personal items. She was escorted out of the residence and back to her father.
-- A water line break was reported at 11:11 a.m. Saturday on Powell Avenue. The water department was notified to respond.
-- Nicholas Fithian, 32, of Brookview Drive, was cited for failure to yield after his westbound vehicle on Parkview Drive traveled left to head southwest on North Lincoln Avenue, failing to yield to traffic and getting struck by a southwest bound vehicle driven by Daniel Ramsey, 29, of Ridge Road, at 11 a.m. Saturday. No injuries were reported.
-- A resident in the 200 block of Vine Avenue reported a theft at 8:09 a.m. Saturday. The victim advised the suspect was at the residence several days ago and he noticed several items missing. The victim was unable to provide very much about the alleged suspect other than a name. The incident was under investigation.
-- Police were called at 3:14 p.m. Friday to the area of Circle K East, 1125 E. State St., for a report of two males walking down Woodland Avenue who appeared intoxicated. The area was checked, with nobody found.
-- A 17-year-old female from Bristolville admitted fault and was cited for assured clear distance after a two-vehicle accident at 2:41 p.m. Friday in the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue. Norma Wilson, 81, of Youngstown, was northbound on South Lincoln Avenue approaching the light at East State Street when the light changed and the juvenile driver's vehicle started forward and struck the rear of the Wilson vehicle. No injuries were reported.
