Mr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Sheen honored for golden anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin R. Sheen of 1943 Depot Road, Salem, were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party on Aug. 4 at the First Christian Church.
The former Patricia Ann Duriga and Mr. Sheen were married on Aug. 9, 1968, by the Rev. Harold Deitch of the church.
The couple’s children are Theresa Howell of Sebring, Victoria Zubaty and Christopher Sheen of Salem and Nicholas Sheen of South Korea.
Mr. Sheen worked at Eljer Industries until its closing in 2004, then was a supervisor at Superior Dairy until 2011 when he retired. He is a member of Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Masons and the church.
Mrs. Sheen retired in 2008. A registered nurse, she worked as a floor nurse at Salem Community Hospital then in outpatient services. She is a 40-year member of the Ohio Nurses Association and a member of the church, TOPS Chapter 777, Youngstown Hospital Alumnae Association and Salem Band Boosters.
The Sheens are raising their three grandchildren, Catherine Howell, Samantha Howell and Matthew Howell (since 2005).
The festivities were hosted by Vicky Zubaty; Chris Sheen; Mrs. Sheen’s sister and brother-in-law Mary and Jeff Payne; Mrs. Sheen’s brother and sister-in-law Mike and Melissa Duriga; and Mr. and Mrs. Sheen’s grandchildren.
