SALEM–Josephine Marino Saunders marked her 90th birthday March 18 with a birthday celebration March 24 at Boneshakers in Salem hosted in her honor by her children Mary Mowrer, Patt Wonner, Gary and Hollis Jr. Also attending the celebration were spouses, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and Father Bob Edwards from St. Paul Catholic Church, who blessed the occasion.

Stories were shared by all about Mom “Mama’s” life, starting with her birth in Salina, Pa., moving to Salem at 6 months old, growing up at the Marino family homestead on Ellsworth Avenue, enjoying the bliss of a close knit neighborhood where the smell of fresh baked bread and sauce simmering on the stove emanated from the homes. Mom has carried on the tradition dedicating her life to her friends, faith and family, blessing all with her grace.
