SALEM — Look for the Salem Lube Stop to open on Sunday. That’s a tentative date according to Teresa Hutmacher, who co-owns the business, located at 517 Newgarden Ave., with her husband, Hank.

Located at the corner of Prospect Street, next to the Salem Gas Stop, the business will be family run. There are two bays. A new state-of-the-art lift was just installed.

It gives more accessibility, Hutmacher said. The lift can handle vehicles weighing up to 10,000 lbs.

The lube shop idea came about when she and Hank spoke with John Baker, owner of the Salem Gas Stop at 445 Prospect St., “about another endeavor.” The empty, adjoining property “was the perfect setup.”

Hutmacher explained there was a lot of traffic generated by the Gas Stop which opened last April. With her husband laid off for an extended time “the opportunity presented itself and we decided to jump on it.”

Her husband and their son, Adam, will handle the full-time duties. Hutmacher and Adam’s wife, Ashley, will work part-time.

The business will feature Allegheny Oils out of Pittsburgh, which makes a lot of brand name oils that Baker distributes.

The Lube Stop will change filters, air filters, cabin filters, sell NAPA batteries, do tire rotations, brakes, light maintenance, wipers, and light bulbs.

“Anything that needs attention,” Hutmacher said.

Customers can drive in and should not have very long to wait, she said. The Lube Stop will pick up vehicles at a customer’s workplace, change the oil and do other requested work and return the car.

“We want to help people out in Salem,” she said. That includes the immediate surrounding area.

“We can pick up at home or at work,” she said, They also want to assist businesses in the immediate area.

Shop hours will be the same as the Gas Stop. They may be adjusted to stay open later to accommodate customers.

Hank Hutmacher is from Sebring and Teresa is from Sandy Valley, near East Sparta.
