SALEM – As the Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) primary care physician network continues to grow, SRMC is announcing the addition of Board Certified Family Medicine physician Steven Swain, MD, FAAFP, to its medical staff.
Dr. Swain will practice at the SRMC primary care locations in Salem and Damascus. He is joining Dr. Stephanie Raynish at SRMC Primary Care, 2020 E. State St. Suite C, Salem, 330-332-7807; and Dr. Gabrielle Dickerhoof MSN, APRN, CN-P at SRMC Primary Care, 28885 U.S. Route 62, Damascus, 330-446-4096.
Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Swain provides a full range of health care services for patients of all ages, including annual physical exams, preventative and wellness care, sick visits for acute illnesses, chronic disease management, immunizations and health education and counseling.
An experienced family medicine physician, Dr. Swain has been in private practice in the Mahoning Valley for over 15 years prior to joining the SRMC medical staff. In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Swain has enjoyed several years teaching residents and medical students. He earned his B.S. degree in Combined Science from Youngstown State University, followed by a medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University. He then completed his residency training in family medicine at Western Reserve Health Education Family Medicine (Forum Health Northside Hospital).
“I am excited about getting to know the residents of Salem and Damascus and helping them live better, healthier lives. Throughout my career, I’ve enjoyed working with my patients to help them reach their highest level of health, no matter what their stage is in life,” said Dr. Swain. “Modern medicine is about much more than helping patients manage their current medical conditions, it’s about creating a lifestyle that promotes whole health and disease prevention.”
Dr. Swain’s passion for medicine goes well beyond the walls of the hospital. He has completed many medical mission trips to Haiti, Dominican Republic and Africa, where he has had the opportunity to understand global health and wellness, had the privilege of working in free clinics and also work alongside U.S. and international medical professionals to create a depth of knowledge and wisdom he brings to his practice stateside.
