SALEM – The Powerhouse Cafe is bringing back Friday bike nights beginning this Friday, owner Tonia Gerber said Tuesday.
Bill Wilson and Dwain Kale are organizing the bike nights that will be held each Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. through the summer.
Todd Knight the “Night Rocker” will be the DJ.
The Powerhouse Cafe, the former Side Door Restaurant, is located at 530 S. Broadway Ave.
There won’t be bike games as before until they can get up and running and possibly add them later, Gerber said.
Any money raised through various activities at the bike nights will be donated to the Columbiana County Humane Society, she said.
Kale, a former Side Door bartender, said he has created a collection of Easy Rider Magazine centerfold display pieces that he made by hand. He removed the centerfolds and set them onto pieces of old barn slate with the edges given the burnt-look treatment.
He sells them for $20 each and will donate the money for each one sold to the humane society.
He will have 10 of the Easy Rider pieces available this Friday.
Kale said they are working on getting different vendors for the bike nights.
Gerber, who just re-opened the business last year, said this will be the first bike night since 2008 when the last one was held at the Side Door.
They want to get the bike nights going again, Gerber said and they wanted to encourage donations to the humane society.
She said they don’t know how it will be received but Kale said it will be “a chance to see a lot of people we haven’t seen in a long time.”
