Adele Lake, owner of Adele’s Place, holds up the ticket that won Dixie Blake $43,351 in the Queen of Hearts drawing on Thursday. Blake was not present and won half of the jackpot which will be rolled over into a new game when Adele’s Place obtains a new Queen of Hearts board. Lake said the next drawing will be Sept. 27, but that could change. It was the third jackpot since Adele’s Place started the game in 2016. (Salem News photo by Larry Shields)

SALEM -- Dixie Blake was the winner for the Queen of Hearts drawing at Adele's Place on Thursday, but was not present to claim the $78,032, which was 90 percent of the $86,703 jackpot.

Instead she won $43,351.

She was the third jackpot winner.

The last jackpot was won over a year ago by William Caldwell of Lisbon who hit for $230,840 on July 27 and was present.

The previous jackpot winner before Caldwell was Eric Blankenship of Salem who wasn't present on Oct. 13, 2016 for the drawing in which he claimed $175,000 of the $350,000 jackpot.

Blake won after her ticket with the number 47 matched up to the queen of hearts. It was the 21st card selected in the deck.

Arrangements are being made to present her with the check.

Adele Lake, owner of Adele's Place, said the remaining half of the money ($43,351) will be rolled over into a new jackpot and a new game that will begin in a three weeks, on Sept. 27.

"We have to wait for a new board," she said.

The 50/50 drawing that totaled $1,274 was won by Jim Kundravi of Salem who won $637 and then was chosen to select the queen of hearts drawing ticket.

Lake said the other half of the 50/50 drawing will be donated to AMVETS Post 45 in Salem and last week the VFW Post in Salem was awarded $793 from the 50/50 drawing.

Adele's Place is located at 509 Snyder Road.
