Campaign under way for concession stand facility at Leetonia
LEETONIA – The Leetonia school district has started a capital campaign to fund construction of a concession stand and restroom facility at the football stadium.
The goal is to raise $100,000 to supplement money from the Permanent Improvement and General funds. The total project cost is expected to be approximately $275,000.
The original construction plans of the K-12 campus included the structure, so the area is already wired and plumbed for the building. The building will be a split face block to match the existing structures on campus.
Plans call for a 28-foot by 54-foot structure with a pitched roof that will allow for 16-feet by 28-feet of storage space. There will be double the current counter space and concession area with four indoor fryers with a hood a fire suppression and four serving windows. The restrooms will include seven stalls for women plus two stalls and three urinals for men.
The district has currently been using a trailer for concessions and portable toilets for restrooms. There are also a couple indoor restrooms at the weight room.
According to Maintenance Supervisor Dan Favazzo, a community survey posted on the district’s website, in which residents could share what they wanted and did not want in the facility as well as how to fund the project, indicated 72.4 percent of respondents approved of the current project.
“There is a lot of community support on improving the (stadium) facility,” he noted.
Favazzo said the project will ideally be put out to bid in January with construction to start in the spring.
There are four levels of sponsorship: Gold at $25,000 or above; Silver at $15,000 to $24,999; Bronze at $10,000 to $14,999; and Patron at $500. Donations can be extended over a three- to five-year time period.
Gold, Silver and Bronze sponsors will receive the following for five years: Stadium recognition (plaque); sponsorship recognition, both visual and verbal announcements; advertisement via the school yearbook and athletic program; endzone sponsor display (banner); invitation to a dedication reception; and free admission to all sporting events. Patron sponsors will receive plaque recognition.
Schools Superintendent Rob Mehno said an early solicitation of funds has already generated approximately $30,000 in commitments.
Community members and businesses wishing to make a donation should make checks payable to Leetonia Schools and mail them attention Treasurer Jennifer Coldsnow to 450 Walnut St., Leetonia OH 44431, or drop them off at the administration office located on the south end of the K-12 campus.
