GOSHEN TOWNSHIP--Township trustees this week approved the sale of a used mower as surplus equipment.
Trustees declared an ExMark mower as surplus equipment and authorized Road Foreman Matt Springer to advertise for sealed bids with a minimum of $1,500. Bids will be opened at 6 p.m. May 26. Information about the mower is available on the township's website and Facebook page.
In other road department news, the trustees approved $1,650 for Springer to rent a cold planer from Southeast Equipment for a week to grind down spots in the road that have heaped up and keep the base intact to replay asphalt. Springer made the request because the traditional way to repair the humps is to dig them out with the back hoe, causing issues later on. Roads to be repaired include Stratton, Danbury, Apple Blossom, Duck Creek and Calla.
Trustees also authorized participation in the Ohio Department of Transportation road salt contracts to be awarded in 2020 for 150 tons of salt for the 2020-2021 winter season; and $875 for Garlough Tree Service to remove two trees at the Damascus Park.
Also at the meeting, the township received a $500 check from the "OTARMA CARES program" with use of the funds left to each member's discretion for their unique financial needs as well as a $9,974 check from Bureau of Workman's Compensation to assist with expenses occurred during the Coronavirus to be used as needed.
The Damascus Fire Department's "Night at the Races" fundraiser has been postponed due to the Coronavirus until April 10, 2021.
The next regular trustees meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. June 8 at the administration building.
