GREENFORD -- Green Township trustees have reorganized for 2021, approving a raise in pay for the township administrator and increasing cemetery rates.
Trustees approved an increase of $200 per month for Todd Baird as township administrator to $1,500. They also increased opening and closing cost of graves to $700 for weekdays and $850 for weekends and holidays, an increase from $600 and $700 respectively.
Mark Stepuk will remain as chair and George Toy as vice-chair.
Trustees also reappointed Bob Dance to the zoning board and Randy Rogers to the appeals board, both for five-year terms; as well
as Stepuk, Toy, Baird, Doug Messimer and Becky Yeagley to the Firefighter's Dependency Board.
During their regular meeting, trustees approved a change to the policy manual making holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day straight time for the road department for plowing roads. The three aforementioned holidays will remain at time and a half rate.
Trustees also rescinded 10 percent of the health care costs charge to employees in lieu of a raise. Elected officials cannot accept the raise because mid-term pay increases are not permitted by law.
Additionally, trustees accepted the resignations of James Flory and Chris Keller from the fire department; agreed to fill the new ambulance at Kelley Oil location; and approved the 2021 appropriations totaling $1,236,500.
Also at the meeting, Baird reported the tree cutting is complete at Coy Park and electric will be restored in early January.
He also reported a fire engine sustained approximately $1,000 in damage during a mutual aid fire call in Leetonia and 15 fire/EMS members received the COVID-19 vaccine through the Mahoning County Health Department, with the remaining 15 members opting out through a signed waiver.
