Columbiana chamber plans awards banquet

2 min read

COLUMBIANA -- Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its annual awards banquet April 17 at the Best Western Dutch Haus Inn ballroom.

The host for the evening will be Andrew DiPaolo of WFMJ. DiPaolo will emcee the event following a performance from the Conkle Brothers during dinner. The cost per person is $30. Event coordinators are asking that a maximum of six people sit at a table to follow COVID social distancing guidelines. Invitations to the event will be virtually distributed. Those who want to join the festivities are encouraged to visit the chamber website and register for tickets.

Erich Offenburg, executive director, is anticipating the event after a challenging year. Offenburg mentioned that some businesses were not able to overcome the pandemic, making the updates to the awards ceremony all the more important. The chamber wants to make the evening more entertaining and offer its support to businesses, striving to continue positive events that celebrate development in the area.

Offenburg explained the three major retail districts in Columbiana are the Firestone District, Main Street District and Dutch District. It's important to continue to increase services such as the Clipper Day Tripper, which is a bus service that enables visitors to visit the shopping districts. Offenburg said it's just as important than ever to keep re-imagining celebrations and business ideas in light of current events.

Offenburg is excited to announce the addition of new awards called Harvies. The award will be a small statuette and awarded to businesses based on flier distribution, best ribbon cutting and best up and coming business in town.

"We have a lot of exiting stuff. We have a lot of new business here in town," Offenburg said.

Reservations are being taken no later than April 14. You can RSVP online with check or credit card at www.columbianachamber.com.
