COLUMBIANA--Council approved three CRA agreements Tuesday. Council approved two projects with Firestone Homestead LLC and one with CM6 Properties.

Firestone Homestead LLC is investing $600,000 into two Airbnb locations. The second project with Firestone Homestead LLC consists of $10 million and will mirror the Firestone Farms shopping center.

CM6 Properties LLC of North Carolina is looking to make an investment similar to one discussed in June of 2019. CM6 Properties currently owns property at 1451 Heck Road.

The project is a $1,264,000 investment to build a warehouse used for assembly and distribution of hydraulic and industrial hose products.

Council authorized the city to enter into a contract with Howells and Baird Inc. to design a sanitary sewer lift station behind Village Plaza Sparkle Market. The upgrades will allow the city to consolidate three wastewater treatment stations. The lift station project will also support additional development of residential and commercial property by APL Properties.

"We will be getting rid of three of our lift stations and condensing it into one. Now we only have repair and maintenance on one instead of three," Village Manager Lance Willard said.

In other business, dividers were received from Compco for the Columbiana Corridor. Willard has been in discussions about other projects with the high school entrepreneur class.

In other matters, Park Superintendent Terry Shaffer closed the swimming pool for the last time Tuesday. Willard said the city will begin the process of looking for a replacement; however, Shaffer will be hard to replace.

Moving forward, Chief of Police William Myers and Willard swore in four new officers during council Tuesday. Sheldon Brownfield and Jake Kellner were sworn in as full-time officers while William Hewitt and Adam Sawman were sworn in as part-time.

Every seat was filled with the new officers' loved ones in support. Mayor Rick Noel said the support shown from friends and family reflects the community support officers have.

"We believe in our police officers," remarked Noel.

Lastly, Dan Datillio wished the American Legion and vendors the best of luck with the Street Fair.

"It's great to have it back so, I'm really looking forward to it," he said.
