COLUMBIANA--The 134th annual street fair will take place Sep. 9 through 11, opening at 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and noon Saturday. Vendors and rides will operate until 10 p.m. Thursday and will operate until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Fair manager Jacob Sevek wants to thank his wife Angela and The City of Columbiana for their relentless support.
Kissel Amusements is hosting up to 14 rides, and 28 food vendors will line up along South Main Street along with a 180-foot tent housing vendors. Vendors and rides will operate until 10 p.m. Thursday and will operate until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Antique cars and floats will need to register in the park at 5 p.m. Sep. 9. Antique cars are designated to the tennis court parking lot and other parade attendees will need to come off Springfield Road and go around the back side by the baseball field to register.
Sevek wants the community to enjoy the fair and move forward from last year. He has coordinated with a local chaplain to hold an observance for 9/11. All rides will be turned off and a message will made through the public announcement system.
Special Needs Day will be hosted beginning at noon Friday.
"We feed them lunch, they get to ride rides," Sevek said. "Typically, our snow cone vendor will show up and give them free snow cones while they are here as well."
Sevek encourages vendors and the public to use hand sanitizer and be aware of personal hygiene. The public restrooms located at the far end of the Columbiana Commons pocket park, next to Cherokee Child, will be open and can be utilized for hand washing.
Once restrictions were lifted Sevek moved forward planning the fair as usual; however, those concerned with large crowds are encouraged to come during the parade Thursday. The midway will be less crowded then, Sevek explained. Attendees can also avoid large crowds Friday during the football game and Saturday during the Ohio State game, according to Sevek.
"I would hope that people know what they are comfortable with and take whatever precautions they feel they need to take," Sevek said.
Sevek gives recognition to Diane Hardenbrook for leading the Eats Trailor, Ken Alcorn for his contributions to the ticket trailer and Dave Clow for his engagement with Bingo.
