Tire recycling offered at Goshen Twp. garage
GOSHEN TOWNSHIP — Residents of Goshen Township and the immediate surrounding areas in Mahoning County will be able to recycle up to 10 small tires for free Saturday.
The township will hold its annual Customer Appreciation Day from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the township garage, 12649 Seacrist Road, Salem, including a scrap tire drive from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and electronic drive from 9 a.m. to noon.
Thanks to funds provided by the Mahoning County Public Health obtained in an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant, Mahoning County residents will be able to recycle up to 10 small tires (car, light truck, motorcycle and bicycle) for free. The cost will be $1 each for up to 10 tires for non-Mahoning County residents. The cost will then be $2 each ($2.50 on the rim) for each tire over 10 for everyone.
Larger tires will cost $8 each ($8.50 on rim) for semi truck/skid loader, $25 for racing slicks/off road and $55 ($60 on rim) for farm service.
Due to variations of some tire sizes and applications, on the spot appraisal and cost adjustment may be necessary.
Most electronics can be recycled for free, including flat screen televisions and monitors. CRT monitors and televisions will be $20. Console televisions will not be accepted. The township reserves the right to refuse any electronics at any time.
The Customer Appreciation Day will include free refreshments.
