Hickey land annexed to Salem
The shaded area at the center of the map off Beechwood Drive was annexed into Salem Wednesday at the request of Leo Hickey, near where Hickey Metal Fabrication has been expanding recently.
LISBON — An annexation of 29.5 acres off of Beechwood Drive was approved by Columbiana County Commissioners on Wednesday morning.
No one attended the meeting to speak about the use of the property or need for the annexation, which was requested by Leo Hickey of LLN Holdings, LLC. The property is currently in Perry Township and near the industrial park, where Hickey Metal Fabrication has been expanding in recent years.
Suzanne Hickey of Hickey Metal Fabrication declined on Wednesday to release what the plans are for the additional property.
The request was for an expedited type 2 annexation and provided commissioners with the names and addresses of all the owners of adjacent properties.
While the front of the property is on Beechwood Drive, it extends south to make it adjacent to other properties of Hickey Metal Fabrication off of the Salem Parkway.
The property was purchased by LLN Holdings LLC in January from Margaret L. Vontuchlinski for $402,000.
In other matters:
— The commissioners reappointed Paul Lease for another two-year term to the Transportation Improvement District board.
— The commissioners gave approval for Engineer Bert Dawson to advertise for bids for the line striping of county roads.
