Longtime Goshen Twp. fiscal officer retires

GOSHEN TOWNSHIP -- The board of trustees approved the retirement of Fiscal Officer Tom Knoedler after 15 years of dedicated service to the township.

Knoedler's retirement will be effective March 31, with Trustee John Bricker appointed acting fiscal officer in his stead until a new fiscal officer can be officially appointed.

"I've been with the township 15 years, and I've really enjoyed my time with the township, and feel I'm leaving the township in a good financial position. I'd like to thank the residents and especially the voters for supporting me for the last 15 years," said an emotional Knoedler.

Knoedler will be leaving the township with only a single payment left on its truck, and no debt, which should provide his successor a strong, and stable start.

All of the trustees expressed their gratitude to Knoedler for his diligence, with Trustee Teresa Stratton noting he had helped, and mentored all of them during his time in office. In addition to the trustees personally thanking Knoedler, Bricker read a statement officially thanking him for his service, and accepting his resignation for the board of trustees as a body.

"The board wishes to express appreciation for the service that Thomas Knoedler contributed to the community in his role as fiscal officer for 13 years, the Goshen Township Board of Trustees hereby expresses its thanks and appreciation for Tom Knoedler's devoted and unselfish service performed for the Goshen community, and accepts his resignation effective March 31," said Bricker.

Following the meeting a party was held to celebrate Knoedler's retirement, and thank him for all his contributions to the township.

Other business included the approval of a request to hire Jordan Hefner of Johnson, Ohio, as a part-time police officer. Hefner served previously as a corrections officer in Trumbull County, and served with the national guard.

The board of trustees will meet next 7 p.m. Apr. 10.
