Retired Lt. Col. John Tucker regards the names of the fallen United Local area fallen soldiers, including United Local graduate William Sheen who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1969 during the United Local Community Memorial Day service held in the high school gymnasium on Saturday. SFC Lori Singer Bare was the keynote speaker at ceremonies. Singer-Bare was with 178th Military Police Detachment, 89th MP brigade, when she ended the shooting spree on Ft. Hood on April 2, 2014. The shooting was the second at Fort Hood in five years and claimed four lives, including the shooter, while leaving 16 wounded. The Salem graduate was awarded the highly regarded Soldier's Medal on May 27, 2015 for her actions. (Photo by Stephanie Elverd)
