BELOIT -- The West Branch school board approved a revised five-year financial forecast at its May meeting.
School Treasurer Adam Fisher presented the revised five-year financial forecast for fiscal year 2023. In the state of Ohio school districts are required to submit a five-year forecast to the state in October and then revise the report in May each year, with the intention of helping districts manage their financial resources. The figures are based on the district's current revenue and expenditures and are projected out to five years.
This year's report shows a fairly consistent final balance year over year with a slight increase between 2023 and 2024, until 2027 when the district will see a slight drop while remaining in a positive balance.
This year's report shows the projected end balances for the next five years to be approximately: $6 million in 2023; $6.1 million in 2024; $6.1 million in 2025; $6.1 million in 2026; and $5.7 million in 2027.
The board also approved several personnel and administrative items as part of a consent agenda.
Personnel items approved included: the retirement of custodian Phil Glasser effective June 1, after 43 years; the resignations of intervention specialists Cheyenne Heath and Shelley Wilson, and science teachers Calum Watt and Michael Brown, effective June 30; certified and classified limited contracts for the 2023-2024 school year; the hire of CBI instructor Nicholas Cooper, intervention specialists Ashley Larson and McKenzie Patterson, and summer custodians Jacob Lyons, John Hancock, Maerritta Flickinger, Hayden Hawk and Felicia Bonar; the appointment of summer STEM camp instructors; summer school and summer services staff for 2023; athletic supplementals for the 2023-2024 school year; professional and superintendent assignments; and stipend pay for Technology Director Jim Graham and Mike Hoffman.
Administrative items approved included: the class of 2023 graduates list; additions revisions and deletions of board meeting policies; a contract with K-12 Business Consulting for $9,750 to provide the district with a 20-year permanent improvement plan; the continuing Medicaid school program services agreement with Healthcare Process Consulting for the 2023-2024, 2024-2025, and 2025-2026 school years at a cost of $10,000 per year; an agreement with the Columbiana County Education Service Center for services on an as needed basis for the 2023-2024 school year; an agreement to enter into a two-phase project with Vasco Asphalt Company to complete driveway and parking lot repairs at the high school and middle school; overnight and out-of-town summer sports camps and leadership camps for 2023.
