LISBON– Troopers from the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a Thursday evening one-vehicle crash resulting in a fatality.

According to the OSHP, the crash occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Middle Beaver Road in Elkrun Township. A vehicle traveling westbound went off the right side of the roadway, striking a ditch and then a culvert. The driver, 63-year-old Richard Tirpak of Columbiana, was flown by Stat MedEvan to St. Elizabeth Hospital where he later died. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. It is unknown if the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
