Music fans can support a good cause and hear the immortal songs of the King of Rock and Roll at a benefit concert this Saturday.
The concert, to be held at Boneshakers in the Timberlane's Complex from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, will feature the musical styling of experienced Elvis tribute artist Endre Samu. Sponsored by Boneshakers and the Brightside Project, the benefit will raise funds to directly support and expand the Brightside Project's ongoing efforts to aid and support the East Palestine community. Attendees will be able to enjoy dinner and a show as tickets for the benefit will be $25 per person and come with a choice of roasted garlic pork tenderloin or herb-baked chicken as an entree.
"We've been doing what we can for them since the derailment happened, and are continuing to support them, and this will add to our efforts, and expand our reach as we continue doing so," said Brightside Project Founder & Executive Director Scott Lewis.
While the deadline to reserve tickets was initially slated for July 23, Missi Jennings, who has spearheaded organization for the event said reservations will be accepted through Friday. Tickets can be reserved by calling 234-567-4671 and selecting option two, or by emailing events@timberlanescomplex.com.
Donations for Brightside will be collected at the venue during the event. However, donations can be made to Brightside - www.brightsideprojectohio.org/donate -- to support the vital work that organization does throughout all of Columbiana County.
A Lisbon native, Samu has been an Elvis tribute artist since 1992. He held a similar benefit concert to support Brightside's efforts in East Palestine shortly after the derailment first occurred in February. That show was in Kentucky where he serves in law enforcement. Lewis contacted him because he wanted to hold a benefit in Columbiana County.
"He contacted me and said, 'I want to do one back home and give back,' he's been doing this for years, and really is fantastic," said Lewis.
