North sworn in as Salem FD’s inspector

Long-serving firefighter Rob North was sworn in as the Salem Fire Department’s new fire inspector by City Council President Sara Baronzzi Friday. A 2008 alum of Marlington High School, North served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four and a half years before earning his associate degrees in emergency medical service and emergency fire service from Stark State College in 2015. North began his career as a firefighter at the Louisville Fire Department, where he continued to serve part-time until 2022. North joined the Salem Fire Department in January of 2016, and since then has served at the department in several capacities. Fire Chief Scott Mason said that North will be taking over for the department’s current Inspector Aaron Loper, who is in the process of retiring.
