Vehicle crashes into Salem home following collision

SALEM — A traffic crash led to one vehicle striking a local residence Tuesday afternoon.

A vehicle driven northbound on South Lundy Avenue by Terry Steele, 67, Salem, at 2:54 p.m. Tuesday failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection of South Lundy Avenue and Franklin Avenue when turning westbound onto Franklin Avenue, striking a vehicle driven east on Franklin Avenue by Cliff Lake. Steele’s vehicle then continued on, striking a residence in the 400 block of Franklin Avenue.

Steele and his 14-year-old passenger were transported to Saint Elizabeth’s Mercy Hospital Boardman by Damascus EMS for potential injuries. Lake declined any medical assistance on scene. Both vehicles received disabling damage during the crash and Lake’s vehicle was removed by Sinsley’s Towing, while Steele’s vehicle was removed by Kaiser’s Towing.

Steele was cited for failure to yield.
