Thursday evening saw one of the busiest days of the year for The Brightside Project with the first of its backpack and school supply distributions for the 2023-2024 occurring during the regularly scheduled food for kids distribution. Any Columbiana County child in grades Pre-K through 12 were invited to choose their own food, snack and hygiene items, as well as a backpack loaded with all the supplies they need for the new school year. Brightside will be holding another distribution event in two weeks on Aug. 17. Each year the distributions provide hundreds of children with back-to-school supplies. Children must be present to receive the supplies and proof of residency is required for new families. (Photo by Morgan Ahart)
