COLUMBIANA -- Main Street will be full of whimsy and magic in a few weeks with the "Witch Walk on Main" annual event organized by the Columbiana Area Chamber of Commerce.
Scheduled for noon to 8 p.m. Oct. 7 the event will result in the closure of Main Street to traffic during that time.
Contests of all kinds -- including pumpkin carving, costume, and even cackling -- will be held while visitors can also enjoy the many items available from a variety of vendors.
The event has also been approved for a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area, meaning the open carry of alcoholic beverages will be allowed in the specified area.
The Chamber of Commerce describes the event as an "immersive experience that transports attendees into world of sorcery, laughter, and awe-inspiring creativity."
According to the Chamber, the "much-anticipated" event is like no other, and has been dubbed the most magical night of the year.
The schedule of events includes a Witch Hunt through the shops at 10 a.m., with contests and a Photo Booth starting at noon.
Contests to be held around noon include pumpkin carving or painting for adults and children, a "Spooky Sniffy Graveyard" sniffing contest for dogs, and "Bobbing for Body Parts" for dogs.
Also at noon will be the Enchanted Artisan's Make and Take, which allows participants to create their own magical tokens with help from skilled artisans.
A DJ will begin playing music at 3 p.m. and a decorated broom race for three separate age groups will begin at 3:15 p.m.
Age groups are divided into 10-and-under, 10 to 16 years old, and 16 and up.
Other contests for the three age groups include the cackling contests.
Broom races and cackling contests will be held more than once throughout the event.
Votes will be cast for the Best Storefront Decorating and Best Vendor Decorating, with results announced at 5:30 p.m.
Winners of the pumpkin carving contest will be announced at 6 p.m.
Other contests to be judged include the Doggy Costume Contest, Witches Costume Contest, and Cackling contests.
The Witch Walk parade will begin at 6 p.m. along Main Street, with one person awarded Best Witch Costume.
The event will also feature dancing and a presentation from the Columbiana Performing Arts Center.

"If you're a seasoned sorcerer or a curious seeker of magic, the Witch Walk on Main promises an unforgettable night of mystical wonders and cherished memories."
