NEW PHILADELPHIA — The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Columbiana County in the coming weeks. All outlined work is weather permitting.

— State Route 644 upcoming closure east of Kensington: Starting today, state Route 644 will close east of Kensington for a culvert replacement project. The detour is U.S. Route 30 east to statae Route 164 south, state Route 164 south to state Route 518 west, state Route 518 west back to state Route 644, and reverse.

The following projects are ongoing in Columbiana County:

— U.S. Route 30 resurfacing in East Liverpool: Work is underway to resurface a 4-mile section of U.S. Route 30 through the city of East Liverpool to the EXIT for state Route 170. During construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The completion date is Oct. 31, 2023.

— State Route 39 (Pennsylvania Avenue) culvert replacement in the city of East Liverpool: Work is underway to replace a culvert along state Route 39 between Parkway Avenue and Virginia Avenue in the city of East Liverpool. During construction, one lane of traffic will be maintained via temporary traffic signals. The completion date is Sept. 30.

— Preventative maintenance project on State Route 164: Project involves chip sealing a nearly 5-mile stretch from Gavers to Lisbon. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic during construction. The completion date is Sept. 30.

— East Lincoln Street Connector Trail Project: Work is underway to install a bike and pedestrian trail along state Route 154 in Lisbon. Throughout the project, traffic may be maintained via flaggers when necessary. The completion date is Sept. 30.

— City of Salem – State Route 344 (Franklin Avenue) closure: State Route 344 (Franklin Avenue) is closed to traffic for 190 days for a project to rehabilitate concrete pavement via repair and replacement along a stretch of Franklin Avenue (state Route 344) from South Lincoln Avenue to Southeast Boulevard. Non-local traffic is detoured via Southeast Boulevard to State Street, State Street to Lincoln Avenue, and reverse. The completion date for the entire project is Oct. 31.

— Multi-route resurfacing project throughout northern Columbiana County: Work is underway to resurface several routes in northern Columbiana County. During this work, traffic will be maintained via flaggers. The routes include state Routes 14, 45, 344 and 9 in the Salem area and state Route 14 in the Columbiana area. The completion date for the entire project is Oct. 31.
