Young boy killed in hunting accident
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) is investigating a hunting accident on Sunday near Wellsville in which a young boy was killed.
According to news partner WKBN-TV 27, an ODNR spokesperson confirmed the incident happened in the Highlandtown Wildlife Area, which is 10 miles northwest of Wellsville. ODNR is calling it a “fatal hunting accident” and says that two young males, who were brothers, were hunting when it happened.
The name of the boy killed and the details of what happened are not being released yet, but an obituary submitted Monday identifies him as 12-year-old Ethan James Barker, a seventh-grade student at Beaver Local Schools. The district issued an all-call Monday stating grief counselors would be on hand all week.
