The Salem Music Study Club is ushering in the Christmas season with its 59th annual choir festival at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 at the First Methodist Church, 244 South Broadway Ave. in Salem. Eight choirs will perform including Emmanuel Lutheran Church, The Keller Family, Tapestries of Ohio, The Village Singers of Lisbon, Salem First Friends Church, The Kent State Communiversity Chorus, Abundant Life Church and Winona Friends Church. The festival is open to the public, free of charge. A goodwill offering will be held to benefit the Grace Dyball Scholarships which are offered to college junior/senior students majoring in music, and the Lois Frost Piano and Organ Memorial Scholarships, offered to high school students. The highlight of the event each year is the singing of the "Hallelujah Chorus" by the combined choirs, directed by Anna Anderson. For elevator entrance, use the south side parking lot. The Salem Music Study Club is a member of the National and Ohio Federation of Music Clubs.
