Liverpool Township man charged with murder in wife’s shooting death

Morrison

LISBON — Liverpool Township resident Christopher M. Morrison Sr., 34, reportedly admitted to a close friend that he shot his wife, Tiffany, inside their Shadyside Avenue residence, then her body was moved to a shed outside, a police affidavit said.

Morrison stands charged with murder in her death and will face arraignment on the first-degree felony charge this morning in Columbiana County Municipal Court, with a preliminary hearing expected to be held next week.

The murder charge was filed Thursday afternoon, with Morrison already being held without bond at the county jail after being taken into custody Wednesday night. Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino said a $1.5 million bond will be requested during the hearing.

According to an affidavit filed by Sgt. Detective Robert Ramsey of the Liverpool Township Police Department, police responded to a report of a possible homicide at 1655 Shadyside Road involving a deceased female. Ramsey wrote that through the investigation, he learned “that although they were experiencing difficulties in their marital relationship,” Christopher and Tiffany Morrison resided together at that residence.

Further investigation revealed that Tiffany Morrison, 34, had last been seen on Monday.

According to a press release issued by Abruzzino and Liverpool Township Police Chief Jared Kinemond, Liverpool Township police officers and members of the Columbiana County Major Crimes Task Force responded to the home at approximately 7 p.m. Wednesday in response to the homicide report.

The affidavit said that during a search, “investigators discovered evidence of a shooting inside the residence and the remains of Tiffany Morrison were discovered in an outside shed located on the property.”

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was called to the residence to process the crime scene and the county Prosecutor’s Office was also called to the scene and assisted officers as needed.

An autopsy was conducted by the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office and determined the cause of death was due to a single gunshot wound.

“We wish to thank the Major Crimes Task Force, the Columbiana County Prosecutor’s Office, the Columbiana County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office, and Ohio BCI for their prompt and diligent assistance in this investigation leading to the arrest and charging of Christopher Morrison. We express our deepest sympathies to the families involved, especially at this time of year,” Kinemond said in the press release.

“I’m deeply troubled by this case, and the overall increase in violent crime in the State of Ohio and locally,” Abruzzino said. “My office will do what we do best and hold offenders accountable to the maximum extent possible, but I also know that’s little solace to a family suffering such a catastrophic loss. I feel for you, I feel for your families, and I promise we will do everything within our power to seek justice in your names.”

According to Abruzzino, the couple had children and both worked as massage therapists.
