LISBON — The Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities recently recognized and honored three long-time employed clients of the Reach 4 More community employment program. The recognition is part of a new CCBDD program to spotlight and reward clients who have been at the same workplace for many years. The trio have been loyal employees who have served Columbiana County businesses and customers well for the long-term.

Brian Snode has been employed at the location of the True Value of Salem for the past 18 years. Over the course of that time, there have been three different businesses at that location, but one constant has been Snode. He assists customers, does inventory control, puts products out for sale and also does some janitorial duties.

“Brian is very reliable and an extremely hard worker,” stated True Value General Manager Matthew Kuttler. “He always has a smile on his face and has a great attitude.”

“It just felt like the right place for me,” explained Snode. “I like working here very much. I listen to my bosses and pay attention to detail.”

Kassey Lehman has worked at the McDonald’s in Salem for the past 13 years, cleaning tables, floors and windows. She also takes orders out to customers who are waiting in the parking lot.

Corena Foor was recently recognized by the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities for six years of employment at the Subway restaurant on 2nd Street in Salem. “I love the people who come in here,” said Lehman. “Some come in every day, while others come just once in a while. Over time, you get to know them and have the chance to interact with them.”

Restaurant general manager Bill Martin appreciates Lehman’s hard work, saying,

“Kassey always has a smile on her face. She is a really sweet person and works very hard. She always gives you her best effort and makes the customers feel welcome.”

Corena Foor has been working at the Subway restaurant on East 2nd Street in Salem for the past six years.

“I have always wanted to work at Subway,” said Foor. “I always wanted to be a sandwich artist here ever since I was a kid. I am so glad to be here. This is a dream come true. I love to see the customers smile.”

“The length of tenure with their jobs aptly demonstrates that our clients are capable of working in the community just like anyone else,” said CCBDD superintendent Bill Devon. “They have all been doing a good job for multiple years. We are very proud of them.”

“We are fortunate to work with many organizations and agencies in this county that provide Job Development, Job Coaching, Community Based Assessments, Work Incentive Plans and other services that get our clients placed in the right job from the beginning,” stated Shirley Bowald, CCBDD Employment and Community Inclusion Manager. “These include Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities, the Columbiana County Educational Service Center, Blue Sky Employment Consulting, Youth Intensive Services, Matrix, U Belong, United Disability Services and others. We are thankful for their efforts in providing these services to our clients and look forward to having many more of the people we serve receive longevity recognition in the near future.”
