LISBON -- The Columbiana County Health Department is looking for a new vital statistics registrar.
During a recent health board meeting, county Health Commissioner Dr. Wes Vins announced that longtime registrar Debbe Chuck was retiring effective March 29 after 26 years on the job.
"I thank her for all her great years of service," Vins said.
The registrar is the person who handles birth and death certificates and works closely with area funeral homes. The board agreed to advertise for the clerk 2 position to replace her, giving enough time for her to train the person before she leaves. The position will be posted internally first.
Vins also announced that Kayla Rose, who has served as deputy registrar for eight years, was leaving next month, saying she wanted to try something new. She was also thanked for her service.
Her position won't be advertised for now. Vins explained that he wants to look at streamlining the adminstrative division before posting the second clerk job. He said he wants to do some cross training in that division.
The board during a previous meeting approved the third reading of the new food license fees for 2024, approved the updated and revised policy manual, and agreed to reject and rebid the third round of the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund contracts for septic repairs and replacements. Responses for the next three rounds are due by Feb. 20.
In financial matters, the board approved adjustments to the appropriations for the cancer fund and home sewage fund, certified and appropriated grant funds for Health Projects and Workforce Development and certified the carryovers for all funds.
The next meeting will be 4:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at the health department on state Route 45, Lisbon.
