LISBON – The Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education approved dates and times for several big events for David Anderson Jr. Sr. High School at its regular meeting on Thursday.
The 2024 spring musical, a rendition of Disney's "High School Musical," is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 6 and 7 and 3 p.m. April 7 in the high school auditorium.
The board also approved supplemental contracts for the musical in percentages of a base amount of $36,015: Paul Dahman, music director, 4%; Kari Bell, drama director, 4%; Tyler Stouffer, 4%; and Kyle Zimmerman, spring musical volunteer.
The Junior Senior Prom is set for 7 to 11 p.m. May 3 at the Vineyards at Line Lake in Columbiana. The school will hold a "Parade of Fashions" prior to the prom from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 3 in the gymnasium.
An after-prom trip to Cedar Point has been scheduled for 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on May 4.
Graduation will take place in the high school gymnasium at 3 p.m. May 26.
In other business, the board approved athletic supplemental positions for the 2023-2024 school year.
Each coach is making a percentage of the base amount of $36,015: Mary Matthews, varsity boys and girls track coach, 13%; Seth Davis, assistant varsity boys track coach, 2.75%; Derek Joy, assistant varsity girls track coach, 2.75%; Meredith Deichler, junior high girls track coach, 4.25%; Jon Burnell, junior high boys track coach, 4.25%; Doug Andric, varsity baseball coach, 9%; Tyler Sweeney, assistant varsity baseball coach, 2%; Devyn Flory, varsity softball coach, 9%; and Chris Flory, assistant varsity softball coach, 2%.
The board also approved Brayden Flory and Doug Sturgeon as baseball volunteers.
Also on Thursday, the board approved summer maintenance projects for the main and auxiliary gymnasium floors with the Ohio Floor Company. The main floor will cost $4,116 and the auxiliary will cost $2,275.20.
Superintendent Joseph Siefke said the work will be done in July and the work remains affordable.
"(The rates) have not gone up in some time," Siefke said.
The board also approved the treasurer's financial report and payment of listed bills in the amount of $1,053,921.53.
The board also approved an agreement with REA & Associates for Medicaid School Cost Audit Report services: cost not to exceed $3,050 for fiscal year 2023, not to exceed $3,250 for fiscal year 2024, and not to exceed $3,500 for fiscal year 2025.
"Since we receive funds from Medicaid, we must get audited," Treasurer Jennifer Coldsnow said.
Board member Jennifer Whitman was appointed as legislative liaison and board member Brittany Tyler was appointed as student liaison to the Ohio School Boards Association for 2024.
The Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education will next meet at 5 p.m. March 14 in the conference room of the board of education office at 317 North Market Street.
